If KT hadn't been traded for cash....

Post#1 » by hitachi7 » Tue Dec 9, 2008 12:52 am

Assuming he plays as well or almost as well as he did in 05-06 and 06-07, do we see a similar strange start that we did in 07-08? And by strange I mean we lost some games the previous suns teams wouldn't have, and it was pretty obvious that particular team wouldn't have gotten the job done. I think if you analyze each teams strengths in each particular year in the run-n-gun era you can figure out why this team started off differently in 07-08. I would give my explanation but it would be a little long and prolly a waste to read since it's besides the point of this post.

AAAAnyway, if we kept KT, and played at the same level as we did in 06-07 (with Grant Hill added?) how do we fare in the 07-08 season? Or to be more clear how well do the 06-07 Suns do in the 07-08 season? Obviously if the start was different the Shaq trade wouldn't have happened.

I know none of really want to dwell on the past, but I just want more opinions on this question and I don't think there's a better place to ask than here.

This was the move that really sent us over the edge. Led to us not getting Rudy, trading for Shaq, and probably giving up a high draft pick of our own in 2010. It all goes back to Sarver and Kerr and keeping their eyes on the bottom line as others have said. Pissed me off to no end.

I also hated this move at the time and still do now. To let someone like that go purely for financial reasons was just crazy, especially when Sarver was later happy to take on an ageing Shaq and his inflated contract.

It all came back to haunt the team too when KT helped the Spurs dump the Suns out of the first round.

KT was a perfect fit for our team. He could pop the mid-range jumper, strong post defender, strong rebounder, veteran mentor for Amare, great in the locker-room...

Sucks that he's a Spur now.

Yeah this was the nail in the coffin for me

I remember SDU emailing me something along the lines of "KT gone to SEA for picks"

And then he wrote one after the full deal was announced, an expletive filled "WITH OUR PICKS!?"

madness

I yelled at work but nobody was around thank Jebus

Another one of those amazing moves by our front office. They could have waited till the trade deadline and got something better. At least not our picks. This was the tipping point of how incompetent sarver and kerr is. I knew we were destined to failure in the near future.

Man imagine it this year too. Assuming we drafted Rudy:

Pg - Nash, Rudy
C- Amare, KT
PF - Marion, Diaw
SG - Bell, Barbosa, Tucker
SF- Hill, Barnes

What a Team! Plus Marion, Diaw, Amare, and Barnes can all play multiple positions and our backup pg delimmas would be solved. Very versitile. Very deep bench. F*** our FO!

Even then $arver will kill it eventually. He doesn't want Gasol, he wants cash.

Nash/Barbosa
Bell/Fernandez
Marion/Hill
Amare/Diaw
Gasol/Skinner

What a ridiculous rotation.

Dont forget about Luol Deng, Joe Johnson, Rajon Rondo, the picks sold to Portland, etc. Once Steve Kerr came aboard he scared the crap outta me, as I'm a Suns fan from Seattle. They miss Colangelo. Both of them.

Return to Phoenix Suns
