J Rich to SUNS. Pacific got TOUGHER

Post#2 » by Chubby Chaser » Wed Dec 10, 2008 11:36 pm

Well, I guess the pacific got a little tougher as the Suns got J Rich and Dudley for Diaw and Bell. I have no idea what the Cats are doing but they're getting raped in this trade. Maybe this means that the Cats have another trade in mind. Maybe they're blowing stuff up. Is this the time where we can get Gerald Wallace for Lamar?? :o DO IT MITCH!!

I like this trade for the Suns, obviously.

It addresses one of their most pressing needs, a wing scorer. However, I've never been too high on JRich (he's nice, just not a huge difference maker, IMO) so I don't see this acquisition making too many waves out West.

Just wondering, who's suppose to guard Kobe in that case? Sure they got better offensively but just like past years they're gonna come up short defensively, even with Shaq and Amare patrolling the paint.

as long as Shaq plays for the Suns makes it a triple negative.

How are they threat to the Lakers ? They have stupid coach who doesn't know how to run offense and now they traded away their two last players who could defend at some level. They got better regular season team but that doesn't change the fact that Lakers will kill them in 7 game series.

I honestly think this is a bad trade.
You give away a decent defender in Bell, and Diaw has done a pretty good job for them so far, and I really dont think they are a threat to the Lakers more than the Clippers would be.

No. Although I agree that they still aren't a threat to us in the Pacific, the Suns definitely got better in this trade. Raja Bell hasn't been a good defender since three years ago. He's pretty much useless if Nash isn't setting him up. Terry Porter absolutely had no idea how to use Diaw, so he didn't. J Rich gives suns something that they've been lacking this whole season. A Viable offensive weapon that can create for himself instead of relying on Nash. Suns' lack of a wing player has been crippling their offense and now with J Rich their offense is going to get a nice boost. To say they got worse by giving up Bell and Diaw is ridiculous.

I know I might get ostracized for saying this, but part of me thinks we should give Charlotte a ring and see the availability of Bell. Battle tested, money shooter, defender to back Kobe. He's a two-way Sasha. Instantly makes our bench better. I know his history with Kobe (even though they seem to be cool with each other), but one thing I like about the dude is that he doesn't back down. He's a little dirty, but so wasn't Boston... we need guys like that. A swagger if you will.

If we call up Charlotte it's going to be for Gerald Wallace, not Raja Bell.

suns got better offensively, making it harder the lakeshow especially because the lakers lack perimeter defense

but the suns srsly lost some defense, one of the reasons theyve resorted to playing zone defense against the lakers today

lol Suns didn't get much better than they already are. JRich isn't a game changer. He has horrible handles and is always inconsistent with his outside and free throw shooting. The only thing he'll bring is athleticism on fast breaks that Marion use to bring.

But its not like the Suns were gonna go anywhere with the team they have now. They mines well shake some things a bit.

i don't think its as good for the suns as people are making it out to be. with nash/amare/shaq, jrich is going to be a role player. its one thing if they were still running, but they're not. as a 4th option role player, i'd rather have raja bell. raja brings the defense and the outside shot and as much flak as he gets, diaw is a good player that has killed the lakers before. they just became a weaker defensive team, and lakers fans should know all too well about the value of good defense.

They got better for sure. Raja Bell is very overrated IMO, he was always big when they faced us in the playoffs, but since then, not so much. And jeez, J-Rich is so underrated it's not funny. He was HUGE in the Warriors/Mavs upset a couple years back and all fans from cities he's played love him. great trade for the suns.
