Its scary to imagine how good the two would have been, had Marbury's head been on properly.

The possibilities of a team with those two back then were endless.

Just finished it. Reading that was like digging through an old box in your closet and finding an old love letter from the girl that got away. I wish I hadn't read it again after all these years. I was content with the thought that Starbury is a selfish punk who only cares about money and his stats. Now I can't stop thinking about the wedding that could have been and the babies we would have had running around the house, er I mean championship trophies. Yeah, that's it.

Great read. I was grinning ear to ear while reading it, but then whne I was through I just got really sad. Alas, what could have been. . .

Just yesterday on the boards, I was disagreeing with somebody about how McHale, at the time of the Marbury-Ray Allen trade, either shouldn't receive all the blame for Marbury turning into ME-bury, or at the very least, if he's blamed for trading for a potential attitude problem, the detractor shouldn't also blame him for trading away OJ Mayo.

I read this article, and I have to think .. is there anyone who honestly blames McHale for trading Allen for Marbury at the time of the trade? KG's (lol) "soulmate?" Or is this just unfair Monday morning quarterbacking?

A lot of people were glad to have Marbury. No one knew. Some people may have preferred Allen, but no one projected Steph being a flake. Those were exciting times back then.

How could you not be excited? These were, at the time, two down to earth young talents that wanted to play together and stated they wanted to play in Minnesota. They should have been Stockton and Malone for 15 years together.

I don't think anyone can legitly bash the trade because there was nothing to complain about until KG got his deal and Marbury turned into a flake.

I think most Wolves fans understand how that went down and give McHale credit for what he tried to do with the Steph & KG. It's interesting how part of our teams downfall was the FO listening to their star player with regard to acquiring/keeping certain players (Steph, THUD, Hassell, etc.)

I don't think listening to their star player was the sole reason for any of those moves. KG definitely wasn't pushing personnel moves at 19/20 when Steph was drafted.
