More Big Deals ..do them now! Bold Moves!

Post#1 » by Christine-In-AZ » Thu Dec 11, 2008 6:47 am

I know it sounds wild to shake up a team so much in the middle of a season, but....

Only 10 days ago Amare was whining about not being "the man". Now that Richardson is here there is even less spotlight to go around. Seems only a matter of time before Amare realizes this fact (though he is a little slow). But, eventually Amare will pout again. He needs to be moved while is value is high. He don't look so special to me anymore ...well not as often.

I also think the Suns (if they really want to challenge) would be well served if they found a guard that more closely resembles Raja Bell.

The solution? Trade Amare and Barbosa (maybe the Bobcat pick) to Toronto for Chris Bosh & guard Anthony Parker (the trade works capwise) if Bryan Colangelo will bite. If they can do it, the Suns need to do it now! So there is time to put it all together in time for the playoffs.

As it stands, the Suns have arguably a top 5 PG, top 10 SG, top 5 PF & a top 5 center. Not a bad trio at SF with Barnes, Hill and Dudley. Good makings are there even if Amare stays, but the dream sequence for me is they get Bosh, Parker and Marbury (by convincing Stephon to take a buyout and back-up Nash).

Bold moves Kerr! More bold moves! Reprise the Celts '07-'08 makeover/championship inside a season!

What a line-up this would be and it is possible

Bosh
Hill Barnes Dudley
Shaq Lopez
Nash Marbury (Nash could even take a night or two off)
JRich Parker

RIght Now Bosh looks like a better player than Amare, so I doubt Colangelo will bite at that... They both have similar contracts terminating the same year, so it is very unlikely you see something like this happening... Toronto will be looking for security and if they were to move Bosh they will be seeking a premiere to good player/s with good contracts that won't be terminating soon and leaving them without a star player.

Whether we'd do it or not is redundant.

It's like me saying Barbosa for Roy works, would you do it? The other GM has to agree :D

On behalf of my Raptors brethren.... GTFO

Bosh is showing to be a better player then Amare and this trade is really pointless. It just makes us worse on defence and gives us another guy who expires in 2010.

I think the Suns are at the point where they would look to start over. They aren't coming out and saying this but it looks like they are in a re-build mood. You have to ask yourself in two year do you really want Amare to be the face of your team?????? That's why if I was the Sun I would look to trade Amare now. I think a team would makes the prefect trading partner for Amare would be the Atlanta Hawks for Josh Smith, Acie Law and first round draft pick. Josh Smith is having problems again with Mike Woodson. Someone has to go down in Atlanta either Woodson or Smith. I think Smith would be the odd guy out of the Sun was to offer Amare. Josh Smith to me is a taller, younger version of Shawn Marion. The kid can play D and he can finish on the break. He is also locked up for the 4 to 5 years. With a trade like that along with the trade they made yesterday. The sun would have gotten some experience young talent with athleticism.

Not sure how that's redundant?

I was just asking if he thought that trade (STAT/Barbs & a 2nd for Bosh & Parker) would be a good deal for the Suns. Just talking sports. I'm clear on the fact rsavaj doesn't have the power to negotiate a trade.

Good to hear your opinion that my proposed deal is the equivilent of the Blazers trade Roy for Barbosa.

Yes I'm well aware that this (or any other trade suggestion) has little chance of actually happening, but...

I can see how Colangelo might figure his chances of resigning Amare may be better than Bosh as Amare has Joe Johnson syndrome read:Big Fish in a little pond. And swapping Barbosa for the much older Parker may fit into his Raptor plan...hell if I know his plans.

Just a thought ..."sports talk"

To keep it real with you guys, I don't see the Sun winning a championship any time soon. What they need to do is to start building that thing over again. You have Steve Nash, Shaq and Amare as trading chips they might has well use them. Although I don't think many teams would be willing to trade for Shaq. Also just think if the Sun was willing to trade Amare for Kevin Garnett two summers ago. You see what KG is doing for Boston. I now it looks like the Sun are going to have to do something with Amare. I say trade him to clear cap space and make a run a Bosh, Dirk (to team up with Nash) or D-Wade.

From Stein's Weekend Dime

• The sense I get is that the Suns would prefer to let things settle now after acquiring Richardson, but they're also not discouraging calls from other teams. Sources say the difference now is that they're no longer actively chasing a trade as they were when team president Steve Kerr decided his team needed "to shake things up" and pushed hard for J-Rich.

^ So did Kerr push hard for a J-Rich trade AFTER Bell asked for a trade or what? If Kerr was already intent on looking into a trade for J-Rich, then he would've done it regardless if Bell asked for a trade or not. But if Kerr went out to look for J-Rich after Bell asked for a trade then it really wasn't his decision to "shake things up," since it would've been forced upon him to "shake things up."

Conflicting reports? Or Sarver just BS'ing to the media?
