Post#1 » by cfan79 » Thu Dec 11, 2008 1:00 pm

Longley vs Perkins
Rodman vs KG
Pippens vs Pierce
Jordan vs Ray Allen
R.Harper vs Rondo

key bench players

Kukoc vs Leon Powe
Buechler vs Tony Allen
Kerr vs Eddie House

What a great 7 game series this would be. I might be biased, but I'd go with the C's. Barring injuries and suspensions of course. I guess it all comes down to whether KG knocked out Rodman or not whether we'd win. Because Rodman would try to mess with his head.

Dude.

The 72 win Bulls. Never bet against Jordan in his prime.

I don't want to say this but we don't stand much of a chance

Rodman vs KG
PIP vs PP
MJ vs Ray

We would have a very hard time scoring with these match ups.

The question shoold be the 72 win bulls or the celts 07-08 team that won the championship. I think in that finals you would have the two best defensive teams in the past 30 years. It would be close. I will be a homer and say the celts.

No. There is no current team who can match up with the Bulls of that era.

Because of the luxury tax and the overvalueing of expiring contracts we have too much non-competitve teams in the league which inflates the numbers. Granted 1996 and 1997 were the years where some teams have been waiting for Duncan to commit to the draft, I still think being an outstanding team was more difficult ten years ago.

The 72 win Bulls team was the best team I've seen. They guys was on a mission that season and MJ being the best player on the planet would have really scored at will on Ray Allen and then lock Ray down at the other end. Rodman would have giving KG fits. Pippen would have shut down Pierce. The Cs have nobody coming off there bench that could do what Kukoc can do. That Bulls team had 3 of the top 5 defensive players in the league of that time on there team. Jordan, Pippen and Rodman. Not to mention Ron Harper was a great defender too.

They would both lose to the 1986 Celtics or the 1987 Lakers.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

The 1985-86 Celtics would have demolished them both, IMHO...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I dont know if the 85-86 team ever saw a defense like CHI played. It would be closer than you think. Did you ever hear the story of the one time Chuck Daily let the dream team scrimmage? Well MJ team is down by ten to magics and he leads them back to the win. Daily called the game early because he thought someone was going to get hurt. I guess the trash talk was far worse than any NBA game played.

Oh yeah Larry was on the sideline. He was pretty much retired at that point.

how about this question?

07-08 Celtics or 08-09 Celtics.

Personally, I think last year's team was better. More dominant. The numbers show it. They actually had the point differential of a 70 win team. This team has had too many close games against teams they should kill (though I think they are still the best team in the league)

Think of how much harder every team is playing them this year. The east is drastically improved also. It is on par with the west. Dont let ESPN fool you. Far more defensive superior teams in the east than out west. ORL,BOS and CLE automatically come to mind.

Clearly the 72-win Bulls. We don't have anyone who could stop Jordan, and that was also just a damn good team overall.

I favour the Bulls too - even over the Laker and Celtic teams of old. The defense has improved greatly from the 60's - 90's. It's the Bulls with Rodman, Pippen, and Jordan that started to play crazy good switching D with all that speed and athleticism.

The current Celtics team is very good, but how about we wait for them to win 70 and a championship before having this discussion?

I don't think it's as close as we're making it seem. For one thing, they had some of the best defensive players in the league in Pippen, Jordan and Rodman, who can pretty much neutralize our big 3. Do you really see Pierce being able to score on Pippen the way he did in the playoffs? I don't. Then who's going to prevent Jordan from dropping 50, 60, 70, 80 or whatever he decides that he needs to beat us? No one.
