Posey

James that is, not Parker - who's much finer.

Good article: http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball ... _good_fit/

It'll be a moment to remember when he gets his ring tomorrow night. I miss him... the good energy, the lengthy pre-game hugs, the timely 3's... You're a good man James.

Quotes:
"It's going to feel odd, I'll be out there by myself. I wish I could've had the experience with those guys because it was a lot of those guys' first time and also from just the bond that we had from doing something real special..."

"I loved the opportunity to come there and play and put that uniform on and be a part of that tradition. The fans were great."

"I was able to catch the game the other day and I was looking at the way they played defense; it was a beautiful thing to see," he said. "It was like when I was there. I was like, 'Wow, they look real nice out there.' They have [nearly everyone] back, so they know what to expect from each other. They know how to play..."

"We got great leaders in Boston, starting with Doc, and then the Big Three. They led by example, practicing hard and playing hard. They are making millions of dollars and they're diving on the floor for loose balls. KG, Paul, and Ray, that's the effort they gave and taking advantage of the opportunity to win a title..."

"For me coming here, that's the message I'm trying to pass on to the guys so they can do things they've never done before to get an opportunity to win it all. That's what separates you from a lot of players in the league. You can't do it for one or two games, you have to do it on a nightly basis. That's what was special about those three - they left it out [on the floor]..."

"I saw the [Celtics'] rings [on TV] from the night of the ceremony. I caught the ceremony on a halftime show when they were going over it. I just lived the moment again [on the replay] with that group of guys of being a Celtic, the tradition and putting another banner up. That was amazing..."

But just from Day 1, it was about going through the process and that swagger. When you see them play, you see it. They're going out expecting to win and know how to win..."

Such as a classy statement from james. It would be nice to see how he would play against us, his former team.

Yes I read this yesterday...

I'm still scratching my head why he thought NO had a better chance to compete for more titles than the C's...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I'm just glad he's gone. Posey turned the Celtics into a jump shooting team (this Fact gets ignored all too often). I'd much rather have the current rotation than a Posey-lead 2nd unit. The Celtics are better without him, and the Hornets aren't that great with him. I expected New Orleans to compete with the Lakers this year, that's not gonna be the case.

I couldn't be happier with this Posey-less Celtics squad!

^^^ No way. I love TA don't get me wrong but he could have played with our second unit too. With Posey would have someone to bang around Lebron who is as tall as he is. We are going to miss that. Let me put it this way - would you rather have Scalabrine out there or Posey? Both are jump shooters..

He didn't.

$$$

He's got 2 championships already. I wish he'd stuck around but frankly, we can use the cap space and Tony's done a pretty good job filling his shoes.

I'll never forgot what Posey did for this team. Thank you James Posey. You helped the Celtics win a championship for the 1st time in 22 years. You were a big part of us winning it all, thank you.

I agree, but it constantly says in articles (such as this one) he wanted to cash in one last time and go where he had the BEST chance to win...NO won't even make it out of the West...

James would've been a help to this year's team but let's be real his role would have gotten even smaller this year than it was last year with TA definitely being a better backcourt player. Posey's real value would have come as backup up to Pierce for 13 minutes a game... for 4-5 million a season? Give me a friggin break. Posey at PF is such a weak lineup but since it exploited LA last season people overrate it. Davis and Powe are both better options anytime, anyplace at PF... and if we get Joe Smith this Posey non-sense should get locked up somewhere never to be mentioned again. This team is ALREADY better than it was last season... and it's HIGHLY likely that DA goes out and gets at least one player to help out down the stretch.

Return to Boston Celtics
