Celtics get the quality back up Center that they need

Successful Trade Scenario
Trade ID #4862283

Sacramento Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -1.3 ppg, -2.2 rpg, and -0.1 apg.

Incoming Players
Patrick O'Bryant
7-0 C from Bradley
1.6 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.3 apg in 3.9 minutes
Sam Cassell
6-3 PG from Florida State
0.0 ppg, 0.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 0.0 minutes
Brian Scalabrine
6-9 PF from USC
2.2 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.3 apg in 10.1 minutes
Outgoing Players
Mikki Moore
7-0 C from Nebraska
5.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 20.5 minutes

The kings free up PT for hawes and thompson which they can't do with moore around. Thompson's contribution is not that good if he plays less minutes. They are a young team who should already work around their young bigs who are contributing to boost their confidence. that would be benefitial in the long run. scal has a cheaper deal and they get salry relief at the end of the season.

hawes/shelden/POB
miller/thompson
salmons/greene
martin/garcia
udrih/bjax/brown

Boston Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: +1.3 ppg, +2.2 rpg, and +0.1 apg.

Incoming Players
Mikki Moore
7-0 C from Nebraska
5.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 20.5 minutes
Outgoing Players
Patrick O'Bryant
7-0 C from Bradley
1.6 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.3 apg in 3.9 minutes
Sam Cassell
6-3 PG from Florida State
0.0 ppg, 0.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 0.0 minutes
Brian Scalabrine
6-9 PF from USC
2.2 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.3 apg in 10.1 minutes

The C's get their biggest need, a long Center who can play defense. Cassell will definitely get bought out and come back as a coach.

I'm not as high on Joe Smith as most of you are. I kind of like the Mikki Moore trade idea. I like Mikkie Moore game it's a lot like Anderson Varejao. I think the Celtics need an engery guy at the Center position coming off the bench to somewhat match the engery that Varejao brings. Let's face it were on our way to face the Cavs at some point in the play-offs so we have to get guys that can match their guys. It's those engery bigs that give the Celtics the most problems.

I like the Mikki Moore idea. But doesn't he make Perk like money?

So, we should give up a prospect, an assistant coach, and a fan favorite for a 33 year old, coming off the bench for a terrible team, with a PER of 10, making more money than Perk? Oh, sign me up. Moore had one of the bigger fluke years of the last several seasons and cashed in with a team that has no idea how to sign free agents.

Joe Smith is a better call if he gets waived. How did he end up toiling in OKC?

Mikki Moore got paid because of one man ... Jason Kidd.

I think it funny when fan talk about how much money a player makes. It's like were paying that person. I don't care if Moore is getting 10 per year. Scal is getting paid 11 mill per year. So we are playing the team mascott 11 mil per year to come off the bench at the end of games just so the fans can say his name and see him shoot air balls and the once an a blue moon 3? Come on be real! Ok Mikki Moore had a solid year playing with Jason Kidd. I could say once he comes to Boston playing around better players he can have the same type of impact.

we are looking for pieces, mikki moore is not playing that well for a crappy team but could contribute a lot in a team like boston. he simply has the intangibles we need at that poistion. scal is also getting paid big for what he just brings. POB is not going anywhere with his game anytime soon so why try to see him as a very good prospect at this point. we have erden who is a better Center prospect imo developing in europe so POB is not much valuable here. with cassell, he;ll likely be waived and he'll just go back here for sure. he's not playing now anyways.

Nah. Let's just stick with the POB Sky-hook for a little while longer.

Scal makes somewhere around 3.5 mil a year, the 11 you saw on the trade checker is the salary ratio, not the actual figure.

no thanks. Moore is a journeyman but nothing special. if POB had his minutes he would put up similar stats. If we're going to make a move we need to get something decent. Mind you I would trade scal for a bag of potato chips but Danny and Doc like him and it's clear his teammates like him as well so I see no reason to throw him in for Moore. Joe SMith would be worth considering but hopefully PJ Brown decides to re-up in March or so and take another shot at a title. McDyess re signing with the pistons is a travesty. I can't believe the league allows that bs to go on.

Why would Sactown do this? I could see for expiring deals, but Scal comes off the same time as Mikki.

Yep no reason for SAC to do this. But i'd take Moore every day of the week. Joe Smith is a good option but Moore brings more length.

Either wait until Joe Smith is bought out or offer a package of Scal/Baby for him and see if that can get him. Mikki Moore would cost too much price wise and I'm generally against trading away Cassell just as a salary dump, because I'd like to see him on the coaching staff next year. I'm sure he'd give up his spot if someone worth getting got bought out.

Why trade when the teams is winning?
Trust me... we will have PJ Brown back in Celtics in midseason.

Moore is a significantly weaker player than Baby/Powe, so why would this deal help us? If you are desparate to get more length up front, the only real option would seem to be trading Powe OR Baby with Giddens/Walker/draft picks in an effort to get someone quasi-decent. I for one wouldn't really want to see that, but at least it'd make some sense.
