Larry Johnson

Post#1 » by MadCityBucky » Fri Jun 22, 2007 5:37 pm

I remember some talk of him on PFT and how we were trying to trade for him.

Maybe we could trade for him and give him that contract he's looking for. I think he's the second best running back in the league and would be great in the Packers zone block scheme.

love the ideal, but what is his value, really?

This isn't like the NBA where you have to match salary.

Seriously, what do you folks see LJ's value being?

Well I think that the Packers would have to give up some high draft picks and some good players, which I highly doubt Ted Thompson does. So this is really more of a pipe dream I guess.

But Larry Johnson is only 27, I believe on a pretty bad team. So it's not like he's that old. Hopefully he doesn't start to wear down though from taking so many carries last year.

The shelf life for a RB is usually 3-4 years before they start breaking down. See Jamal Lewis or Ahman Green.

I hold firm to the philosophy that teams should grow their own running backs, or steal a seldom-used capable backup from another team.

That's more like the price for Michael Turner.

Larry Johnson is gonna take at least a 1st rounder and a good player.

I saw on PFT that Koonce said in a radio interview the Packers were looking at a 'big name' to bring in. Whatever that means, but since we have a good amount of cap room, could we work with KC to get LJ cheap?

I'd do it for '08 2nd rounder.

Its going to take a 1st round draft pick and a defensive player and probably a little bit more to get larry johnson. A top 3 RB in the game.

When the whole LJ thing happened the other day I thought about how we had money and could probably give him the deal he wants.

Then this afternoon I read this article...
http://www.packersnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070626/PKR01/706260525/1989

I really think this is something the Pack should seriously consider...nopt just because we need to get Favre some talent on offense but I also think he is a great player that still has alot left in the tank.

maybe KGB and a high draft pick

Please get Larry Johnson

416 rushing attempts last year. Every back who has had more than 370+ carries in a season has had major injury or has slowed down by a significant margin.

Larry Johnson: Packers May be Interested
RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
Sunday, July 22, 2007

Update: There have been whispers that the Packers will make a play for Johnson, who is threatening to hold out as he enters the final year of his contract with the Chiefs, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.

Recommendation: Johnson is reportedly looking for an eight-year deal worth between $80 and $90 million, and the Chiefs are reportedly willing to listen to trade offers. The Packers have some cap room to play around with, but the Chiefs' initial asking price (thought to be first-, second- and third-round picks) is too steep for this to be anything more than an intriguing rumor at this stage.

Found this today. Take it for what it's worth.

I don't buy the rumor

As for it in theory,no way i'd give give up multiple high draft picks just for the right to pay any running back at boatload of cash.

I think TT leaks rumors to get fans excited and sits back and laughs. There's no way he's giving up any draft picks for anybody.
