All Barea has needed all this time was the chance to actually SHOW what he has in his arsenal. For his lack of size he's a great finisher around the basket, he has great athletic ability since he can really get up and is fearless at doing so, and is actually a really good shooter from outside.
He lacks NBA experience, so as long as he keeps getting minutes and proving everybody (including Mavs fans) wrong I'd say he still has room for improvement in the decision making department. He's already a great ball-handler and doesn't have to envy anyone else's speed. He's definitely an MIP Candidate in my book.
As a Puertorican I'm thrilled to see one of ours do great in the league

Re: Barea-How good can he be?
... TOLD YOU ALL!!!!!! and that was about three years ago, when you had him in your training camp... I said and I repeat: "JJ Barea is a very promising young point guard whom in my opinion can be a poor man Steve Nash"... I got bashed for saying this and everybody was against me, but... what you gonna say now... I remember he was fighting the spot with I think was Jared Jordan or someone like that and people where against signing Barea.... Thank God Cuban saw something in him and decided to keep him around!!! Thanks Mark, I bet you don't regret it!!!
... and all you ONCE JJB haters...
WHAT YOU GONNA SAY NOW????
