Lets get Walker, Marbs and Mutombo! Oh Baby!

Post#1 » by Hemingway » Sun Dec 14, 2008 7:19 pm

Lets face it; POB, Gabe and Davis are all at lease a year or two away from being worthy of a spot in the rotation of a top notch team. We can always get prospects like them or better in free agency. We could also trade Scal or let Sam retire, we have flexibility.

Imagine signing Marbs Walker and Deke! How scary is it to the rest of the league when a team with 2 losses adds 3 former allstars? We would still have Tony House and Powe to make up the rotation. Let everyone fight for minutes and see where the chips fall.

For Walker: It would just be great to have him back. Yeah he took a lot of 3s in the past but the coach was telling him to. I figure he would play within himself in limited minutes and be a great locker room guy for one last run.

For Marbs: Why not? He has got talent and what better way to market himself as reformed and ready for one last pay day then to win a ring with the Celtics.

For Deke: We really need a back up Center. If Deke says he can play I will believe him. He is a good guy and will bring us nothing but positive contributions.

:D I was wondering who would be the first to bring up Walker. Me and my brother were talking about it today.

I agree with you though. We need some veterans who have actually played minutes in the playoffs.

Look at this beautiful lineup

Perk/Mutumbo/Baby
KG/Powe
Pierce/A.Walker
R.Allen/T.Allen
Rondo/Marbury/House

inactive/dleague: Cassell, B.Walker, Giddens

I Deke I agree with, the rest.... um.... not so much. As for Marbs, sure a rational person would look at a chance to play with the C's as a chance for redemption, but the rational part rules Marbs out. Besides, there's no chance he signs for a minimal contract anywhere, his ego is just too big. Walker? Walker's been done, stuck with a fork, put in the fridge, reheated, put back in the fridge, and left to mold up behind the milk top be found and tossed when someone realizes there is no nutritional value left. Done I say, done.

The only one I'm not sure of is Walker. He might be too slow to guard small forwards and not big enough to play power forwards.

We could put Walker in when the game is all but out of reach. It would be a great way to humiliate other teams and bring the garden to its feet and dancing!

Maybe the Scalabrine chant would finally be dead and we'd hear a Walker one instead. Walkerbrine? Walker Wiggle? We Want Walker?

So it would be like an oldies show, "Ladies and Gentlemen, now that we have a 20 point lead with 1:20 to go, we bring you The Walker Wiggle back one more time for your entertainment. Hit it 'Toine!"

Seriously though, I'd take Deke, pass on the other two.

Well, this board would definitely be more active if we brought Walker back!

In order of those 3, which ones I would want..

Deke
Walker
Starburst.

I do not think any will come here though. Maybe Deke..

Dang, now that I think about it, it would be classic to see Pierce and Walker back in the playoffs again. Too bad Walker isn't good anymore. And we don't need him.

The only one we could really use is Deke. Walker can't guard the 3, or the 4 for that matter, and is only constantly brought up because of his history here. We don't need him and wouldn't get much use out of him. Marbury might be nice, but I'd still be too worried about bringing him in here and I doubt he's coming.

Toine can at least be effective in the role that Scal is right now I think. I'm all for him and Deke. Starbury, I don't know.

Walker is said to be really out of shape, like it's not even possible for him to play.

But would we want to commit to $4M and two roster spots to basically the same production? No.

LMAO. i'll never understand some people's fascination with antoine walker. it's like you didn't follow the C's until the 90's. walker was a rather meaningless blip during a dark period in celtics history. i'd rather not see him anywhere close to the c's ever again.

Agreed. Why on Earth would anyone want to bring in Walker and Marbury to a team that is 23-3? What is wrong with people?

This. I seriously don't understand the persistent fascination with him. Bringing him back since the KG trade has never made sense. It's like how there were users clamoring to bring Olowakandi in as a backup center last year, setting on mediocrity for familiarity. The reality is, neither belong on an NBA roster, let alone one challenging for the championship.

Walker-see the last performance in Minny gradually declined and cannot carried the "veterans" lead to the team.
Marb-Oh no he had a AT (atittude problem) in out of the locker room.
Mutombo-Probably I like him for the replacement of Brown.
