Mutombo to the Celtics? Please no !!!!
http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball ... rd/?page=3
I can't believe the Lakers' wouldn't make a run at this guy, he is such an impact player in the paint on the Defensive end, and I'm sure he could teach Bynum and few things. All they have to do is wavie DJ and sign Dikembe. Like come on, the Lakers' have to make a offer to him--if it goes to the Celtics it will be almost impossible to score at the rim, Dikembe owns underneath even at 42 years old.
He is coming back after Christmas somewhere. The Lakers have to make a pitch, if for nothing else is too make sure the Celtics don't get him.

Well it's because he was looking for more than the minmun, and the right now do to the Luxury Tax we might not be able to afford him either.

Sounds like he is gonna be cheap if the Cs waive one of their players and its only gonna be min guy anyway. Pro rated Min deal is gonna be Benga type money...Hell I'd dump Mihm if need be for this guy, Dikembe could be the Alonzo type the Lakers need to get pushed over the top late in games.
Not to mention the Bynum learning factor off him alone would help so much on the defensive mind set.

It's simple we had luxury tax problems, and we have no room on the active roster currently.

Is Mutumbo really that essential for AB17 when Mr Abdul-Jabbar has been his designated teacher for the last couple of years? Why would the Celtics be so quick to waive a player for him anyway? Interior D isn't exactly a weakness for the C's.

well, we all know the drill.. veterans usually head towards a team that will bring them home a ring. So far, it looks like the Cs are a better team.. I'm not saying that of course, but because on our poor D these past several games.. it just looks that way.
Like the mailman and the glove... It'll just come down to whoever has better potential.. that's where they will flock.

I take ZO any day over Tumbo.....
Also Tumbo is leaning towards the Cs, no matter how you look at it.
"The way Boston is playing right now with [Kevin Garnett], Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, the team is heading in a direction toward winning another championship," Mutombo said. "It will be interesting if I made the decision to go there. It would be very good. I've been to the Finals twice [with Philadelphia and New Jersey]. I got close, but I walked away empty-handed. Maybe going to Boston would give me a chance to win.

Boston fans always rip our fans here on this board for thinking Drew is our savior( which was never talked about here), but now they're guilty of the same thing. They've been wanting to replace somebody for Posey since the day they lost him. If they really think Mutombo is going to make up for Pose..................then I feel sorry for them.
The man is like 45 though he's listed at 42.....Bullsh*t, all he doing is making himself another "ring hoe".

Alonzo would help the Celtics way more but he's like Malone in the respect that he probably won't jump on the championship bandwagon for a better shot at the title.
Sadly, PHX and San Antonio might get first dibs on him.
But we've got a shot too, hehe.

Yet another reason why it's not good to play inconsistent ball early in the season... We want to be a "ring hoe" magnet.

Going to PHX or San Antone wouldnt make sense, why would he come back, its not cause of money, so why would he go to a team thats not contending, unless he wants to win another ring then, and I doubt that he can actually help any of those teams to get passed 1st round.

Sometimes blood and tradition run thicker than money and upstarts.
So the Heat would be another suitor. (they haven't even cleaned out his locker, at least from what I heard)

Haaaaaaaa I dont know if Im not understanding you correctly.
I think the only reason that Zo would come back is to win another ring.
Now all these three teams you suggested arent really title contenders, so if its either the money/loyalty, then he would've started the season with the Heat.
If its the ring, then Spurs and PHX arent really contenders at this time.
If its the team that are contenders, then he would fall under three teams like the Cs which I can already tell you Tumbo has shown interest in the Cs, and his family is from Atlanta, and he can be close to them, but I dont really see the Cs being able to use Tumbo, since they have Perkins and BBaby and they have to open up a roster spot to aquire Tumbo, so lets say if Tumbo goes to Cs, then Zo will probably hope to play for either Cavs which they have, Zydrunas Ilgauskas , Ben Wallace, Anderson Varejao.
So I dont think they can use Zo, so that only leaves the next which I think is LA, and that seems more of a reality that I can see happening, since techincally we have the most demand for him and I think he wouldnt mind coming off the bench behind Bynum.

Re: Mutombo to the Celtics? Please no !!!!
Zo would be playing spot minutes for a championship contender.. I'm sure he would like more minutes.
On a team like PHX or SAS, he would get those minutes and still be able to contend.
If he wants a higher chance to win the ring and be a "ring hoe" then the Lakers, Celtics, Cavs, DET, and HOU make sense.
I wouldn't throw NOH out, but they're already stacked.

Re: Mutombo to the Celtics? Please no !!!!
honestly i don't see any good really coming out of this. tumbo is good, but i doubt he can really do anything against gasol or bynum in the paint. he will not be able to replace posey. posey was good at perimeter defense. deke's feet are going to be planted to the ground. it looks more like a desperation move than anything.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Deke isn't best suited for the Triangle unless he wants Mihm/DJ's minutes.

I remember when Kobe told Bynum he should study the art of blocking from Mumtombo after Bynum got owend by Mumtombo 2 or 3 times by him in one game, a year or two ago.
