If it's through a free agent signing or trade who would you like to see as the Suns back up pg?

no offense man but havent we had like 7083423948 posts and threads about who we think it should be and who we'd like it to be?

Marbury, atkins, and if none of the other 2 then i guess Pargo is alright.

In this order...
Marbury (bought out)
Pargo
Atkins
Tinsley (bought out)
S. Stoudamire

I think Marbs has a good chance of landing here IMO. Familiar with PHX, good fit with our vet team and would be able to really spark our bench and is the option with the most talent and experience. His attitude does not scare me as he came into Knicks training camp healthy and ready to play, but their FO thought otherwise. He would also make Barbosa expendable to trade for a legit back-up PF threat, Dudley is just too undersized and works better as a 3.

Pargo would be good too, and has a smaller head than Marbury, but the thing is that these players are where they are because of their hunger for money. Atkins could be a decent backup and would give some much needed D. Tinsley, if bought out, really makes this a potent scoring squad but really wouldnt help much at all on the defensive end, which doesn't really seem to matter at this point.

Add Jason Williams to the list after Pargo, and please drop MArbury under Atkins.

As some may have noticed, I pine for Sessions from MIL, as he's a good combination of what we need as well as being able to grow with the future core of Amare and Richardson. From the looks of it, it's not likely to happen, as MIL appears to have him as one of their core, and trade values don't seem to be matching up yet. It would be nice for PHX to send a whisper to Sessions that we would like to land him, and then he could push for a trade himself. Great scoring, distribution, decent defense PG.

That said, I think the following:

Atkins, Payton (Dust him off...8-), Williams, Marbury, Armstrong (older than dirt, but tenacious still), Pargo

Add PJ Brown or Walker (don't hate me- never thought I'd say it.) at the 4 and Deke, or Zo at the 5

Nash/ Atkins/ Dragic
Richardson/ Barbosa/ Tucker
Hill/ Barnes/ Dudley
Stoudemire/ Brown
Shaq/ Zo/ RoLo

This team could go big or small, and have plenty of weapons, combined with good defense. The veteran bigs might have trouble getting up and down the court the way we are hoping, but they will bring tenacity and defense in the playoffs against the rest of the West. I'm not holding my breath on PJ or Zo wanting to come to town though. Just think it would be nice.

No chance at Ellis unless we give up Nash or Amare, and he'd be a starter, not a backup.

There IS a Warriors PG we should take a serious look at tho... MARCUS WILLIAMS!

ding,ding,ding!

He's worth a shot, and is in Nelson's doghouse, so he shouldn't be difficult to get.

Williams wouldn't be bad, but we would need to trade them something in return, as we are way over the cap. What do we send them? Tucker? Thoughts?

We send them a future 2nd rounder. He's not worth any more than that so far.

I think this is the 6th post on this subject the past few days.

Ok, Jason Williams is retired, hes done ok. I also heard the suns have no interest in the Marbury! Penny looked terriable in Miami last year. Shoot, I rather bring Magic back.

Atikins would be nice, but I don't see the nuggest trading him to us. Pargo is an optoin, but that might be another player we have to buy out.

Trades are going to be hard, but I think the suns look at some 10-day contracts to see who is going to be released or who is on the trade table. So they might play this out.

I would like Hinrich, but he is too expensive and hurt right now. I think he is and will always be the better player than Dragic will ever be.

The way I see it is that the trade's forced the Suns to pick up another player so really they're trading 3 for 3 and they're just waiting to see who the third player is. He's gotta be an upgrade over Singletary AND Dragic, so Armstrong and the Stoudamires ain't gonna cut it lol.

--- What was the deal with J-Will retiring like that? Everyone in the media seemed to think it was just an out of the blue decision. Quite a few of us on this board were hot to get him here, as i recall

I remember reading he was upset how players are treated in the league and dealt around. I guess he just made enough money to be well off and has a ring. Doesn't get better than that.. J.Will keeps it real.

Sources inside my cranium tell me Jason Williams was being courted by the Clips earlier in the year and didnt want to go there, so he is faking retirement until the Suns make him an offer.

Didn't he go there on a vet min? I'm sure Clippers weren't the only team offering a vet min to J-Will.
