tangent:
I can't believe we can't make teams pay for crowding Al. Seems like it'd be pretty simple. 1. Space the floor, 2. make a decent post-entry pass and let Al go to work, 3. Kill from the arc when they go to help on Al.
But Al sometimes can't hold off his man and also the team makes bad post entry passes so it's always getting stolen or else Al catches it 17 feet from the hoop. All of a sudden Al and all the perimeter shooters are starting the possession at a disadvantage as instead of Al getting close high percentage shots and the shooters getting wide open threes, Al is shooting contested 12 footers and the defense is able to double down and still get back to their man for a contest.

Re: Why won't Mike Miller shoot?
Hello fellow TWolves fans. Long time reader of these boards and a long time Wolves fan in general. Lets just say I have a Felton Spencer autographed Wolves pendant. Here's my take on the Wolves so far this year:
The problem with Mike Miller is pretty much the problem with our whole team. The opposing team likes to collapse on Big Al. We should know this is coming, yet whenever we pass the ball into Big Al, we are not clearing out space for him so teams can double him easily. Jim Pete was talking about this during the Laker game. After we pass into the post we need to run through and take that defender who would normally double Al with us when we run through. Al also needs to do a better job of recognizing double teams and passing out to open shooters. We need to make teams pay for doubling Al. We need some ball rotation to create open shots. Our perimeter shooters (including Miller) basically just pass the ball to Al and maybe perhaps move to the corner, but still have their defender with them who can go double Al and pretty easily get back to contest the perimeter shot if Al passes it back out.
For Miller to be effective we need to run some off the ball screens for him. Why not pass the ball into Al, have someone on the other side of the floor set a screen on Millers man and have Miller come up top and have Al pass him the ball for an open 3? We need to play to our strengths.

Another problem we have is that our outside shooters can't hit shots. Miller can get his when he takes them but Foye was bad early on and just recently has been able to drain some of those shots. McCants has been tore up from the floor up all season. A lot of work has to go into our inside outside game. There are a number of issues.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.
