Rasheed Wallace

Post#1 » by Blind0188 » Mon Dec 15, 2008 2:01 am

Many believe that the Pistons will field trade offers for forward Rasheed Wallace if the team continues to struggle.

"That's a 'Mark Cuban move,' " said an Eastern Conference executive. "Cuban would take Rasheed, no question. It would be bold, but he knows he's got to do something to spark his team."

A few questions.

1. Would you consider trading for Rasheed?
2. Who could we trade for Rasheed?
3. What are the chances of it actually happening?

I read the original column on that and it speculated on a Dirk for Sheed

Maybe for the "right" price. Not all that interested though honestly.

I guess they figure we were dumb enough to trade Harris for Kidd, a "Cuban move" so Dirk for Sheed would be a "Cuban move"

Little do they realize Cuban's commitment to Dirk and lack there of for Harris

I'd offer Stack/Bass for Sheed. Id try to just do Stack and other crap but i suspect they wouldn't do that. They don't really need another big considering all the young ones they have but whatever. Would not want to give up Terry though and Dirk for Sheed is just **** proposterous considering we could have had Kobe for Dirk.

I doubt Kobe was ever going to be traded (and that Lakers would take only Dirk for him). But that's besides the point.

If we're trading Dirk, it better be for some young prospects. Dirk for Sheed is much more lopsided than Harris-Kidd turned out to be.

Maybe something like Kidd + filler for Rasheed + filler works. But I'm not sure I like it, tho.

Look, if we are trading for Sheed, there is only one reason: 2009 salary cap. That mean's Kidd and possibly Stack are not going to be part of the deal.

The only way I see Sheed as a Mav is if one of the following trades happens btwn Jan 3rd (when AI can be traded) and the trade deadline:

Howard, Terry, Diop, Stack for Iverson, Sheed, min paid player or 2.
or
Howard, Terry, Diop, for Iverson, Sheed
or
Howard, Terry, Dampier for Iverson, Sheed, Kwame

No other trade would make sense for the Mavericks and give fair value to Detroit. This one is fair value, but does not balance their roster.

I do not want Iverson to play for the Mavs. Certainly not with Kidd and Dirk on the team. It would disrupt the offense terribly. If he has come to Dallas to get Sheed here, I say forget it.

+1 but if the Mavs are making cap room I could live with it until the end of the season

dlee7283 wrote ok here is the official deal that will be announced later today, George is going to the Grizzlies not to us and we are getting James Singleton instead. He told me about the AI trade before the media knew so he might be right about this.

The official deal

Waivers requested on Alex Acker

Pistons Gets
Josh Howard
Brandon Bass
James Singleton
Darko Milicic
Antoine Walker
Greg Buckner

Grizzlies Get
Jerry Stackhouse
DeSagana Diop
Devean George
Kwame Brown
Cash considerations from Dallas
future 2nd round pick from Detroit

Dallas Gets
Rasheed Wallace
Tayshaun Prince
Walter Hermann

also the Grizzlies will be sending Kwame Brown to the Magic for Brian Cook

Found this on Detroit's forum but it was locked so I don't know if this fact or fiction. It sounds like a Donnie Nelson trade so it may not be as far fetched as the people on the Detroit board think.

Why would Dumars be willing to make a terrible trade from a Pistons pov because it "sounds like a Donnie Nelson trade? Pistons are not trading Sheed and Tay for Mavs rejects.

leevii... aren't you the one who thinks Sheed is worth Dirk?

I am not looking for an opinion whether or not Dumars does this trade, does anyone know factually if this scenerio is completely fabricated or has some validity?

I don't think there is any validity to that, but I think that would make many mav fans (not myself) happy as they upgrade Diop to Wallace by downgrading Howard to Prince at the expense of Bass.

I can see it working as Dirk's defense sucks and Prince is just as good on the defensive end and Wallace has much more offensive game as Diop. As long as Dirk & Terry continue their offensive play, it can work, but I still rather have Howard over Prince.

A trade with that many components is a fan's imagination. If there was any validity to that rumor, they would find a way for all teams wo be within their roster limits. Buckner's expiring & Brown's PO is a wash. No one cares about Singleton. Removing Hermann - George makes sense. Simplified, real life scenario (especially on a day where the temas play that night) would be this.

To Dallas
Prince
Wallace

To Memphis
Stackhouse
Diop
Cash
Detroit 2nd round picks

To Detroit
Howard
Bass
Milicic

LOL! The Pistons fans were dead on if George would'nt go to NJ why in the world would he go to that basement team in Memphis? That trade was a joke as soon as George was put in it.

Thanks, the more I thought about it the Mavs could not play tonight if this was true, couldn't suit eight. This is probably just as true as the headline that had Zach Randolph to Dallas.

The only person in that rumored trade that can veto the deal is Walter Hermann.

Here is a trade I like based off this and previous "rumors."

To Dallas
Rasheed Wallace

To Detroit
Gerald Wallace
Darko Milicic

To Charlotte
Arron Afflalo
Jerry Stackhouse (traded to NY for Rose in later trade)

To Memphis
Desegana Diop
Cash from Dallas

How in the world do we get Sheed for only Diop? But I would be so happy if this trade went down.

We actualy give Stack & cash as well. I was basing this off the premis of Diop for Darko (as the 1st trade implied being a possibility). Honesty, I'd be just as happy doing Diop + Cash for Darko w/o Detroit as that keeps us competative next year and still fall in our 2010 plans. Then use Stack somewhere else or let him expire.
