Lou Amundson? Is he the answer?

Post#1 » by SUNSARETHEBEST » Tue Dec 16, 2008 7:06 am

I know alot of people are impressed with his play as of late, but shouldnt the Suns look for a legit backup power forward? Lou is a good energy and cleanup guy but when I mean a legit power forward I mean one that has strength and can bang around in the post, sort of like a Brandon Bass or Ronny Turiaf type of player.

Now that Diaw is traded the Suns don't really have a guy around that size, Diaw never did that but he had enough size to work. Lopez is a center. Matt Barnes is an outside shooter and not really a post power forward and Jared Dudley is to small to play pf, so that leaves Amundson but as said before he doesn't really have much strength to grab rebounds and such.

I know in the regular season it's alright but once the Suns get to the playoffs and if Amare is tired out who would really fill in for him?

I don't know what do you guys think? Can it work out with Amundson? Or should the Suns shop around?

-- We do have this guy Stoudemire

Seriously, I like Sweet Lou a lot. If he gets minutes I think he'll be a bargain. Wouldn't mind David Lee though

When Stoudemire goes out of the game though, can Lou go up against the Paul Milsap's, Kurt Thomas', Lamar Odom's, etc...?

Sure he can, and unlike Amare, will block their shots.

JRich is making us forget about Bell faster than imagined. And Amundson is making us forget about Diaw as well. This team is clicking now!

Understand where the OP is coming from but I honestly thing mgmt are going to try to shape Lopez into the sort of player you want. I do think he should be getting some more consistent mins that for sure. Really don't understand the whole "start him one game, don't even bring him off the bench the next" theory to be quite honest.

He has shown flashes of decent post-up moves.

I can understand Lou being a bit of a crowd fave and we do need an energy guy with heart but I kinda agree we need a bit more skill from our big men of the bench. Always thought someone like Hakim Warrick would look pretty nice coming off the bench here. He's a little light-weight for the PF but he would be good value considering Shaq misses so many games.

Even Nash could post up Warrick :) I'm not a fan of him here

I wouldn't mind Juwan Howard if he was still available.

Another reason to love Amundson= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS3f5dvh ... annel_page

He rides a bike with a little horn. That's awesome. I love it when everyone emerges from the door behind Shaq and is like "whoa.."

I believe Charlotte just picked him up coincidentally
