Wow Boris Diaw! (merged)
I was just checking the box scores and it looks like Diaw had a fantastic game, 25 points and a few other things to fill the box score. Also in his first game he was pretty close to a t-double. When he was on the Suns I don't remember the last time he scored 25, that would probally like one or two years ago.
If Diaw can keep up this play and play like he did during the 05-06 season I can see him helping you guys in the post along with Okafor. Also to throw in Bell may not be the best shooter but he still plays some pretty good defense, he made the all second team last year.
Anyway right now this trade appears to be a win and win for both teams, I like what J-Rich is doing for the Suns I hope you guys appreciate what Diaw is doing for the Bobcats.

Re: Wow Boris Diaw!
He looked great posting up and backing his defender down then using all sorts of spin moves and hesitation moves when he got there. He's a heck of a lot longer than I thought he was.
He needs to help on the boards a whole lot more though.
I'd also love to see him work on his conditioning and refine/shape his body.
It's easy to see he's a quick thinker and uses the ball pretty well.

Re: Wow Boris Diaw!
I really liked getting Diaw. However, I believe his best position for this team is at the 3. This is why (I suspect) they are shopping Crash for a big again. It's critical to get another rebounder and defender down in the paint. I know Okafor can't play the 4 well but LB is willing to get either a 5 or a 4 to match with him. Problem is there is nobody out there good enough to meet what LB needs that we can get for Wallace, at least not yet.
No matter what teams are saying, Christmas shopping is going on for players around the league. But Christmas comes later for NBA trades, closer to the deadline, unless a team gets "an offer they can't refuse". Could Kaman be coming here anyway? Perhaps. Brad Miller? He's a real possibility.
Diaw does a lot of things Crash does even better. Crash is a better rebounder, Diaw a better shooter and passer. I'd contend Diaw represents a multi-threat on offense that makes teams much better.
Also, don't believe this bull**** Newsday is speculating, that the Cats would eventually trade Diaw and Bell to the Knicks for Curry
! The earliest these guys could be traded is Feb. 9th and by then we will LOVE Diaw. He is a building block for our future if used correctly.

He's really not a good 3 since he doesn't have the greatest shot. His strength is getting it done in the post/high elbow

I agree, I don't think we should move Diaw to SF. Yeah, he sucks at rebounding, but if that's what it takes to have someone who can score points in bunches and pass well, I'll take it.

If his rebounding numbers aren't great but he's doing the things that allows easier rebounds for the bigs (like boxing out etc) then he'll get a pass from me for the bad numbers.
Got to get that free throw shooting up over 75% though.

He's better when used as a PF, but he can be a good 3 too.
He isn't a great 3 point shooter, but he's got a solid midrange jumper.
2006-2007 season ("2006 regular season" = 06-07, not 05-06) :

2007-2008 season :

He always knows how use his size advantage when matched up vs swingmen by abusing them all the way down to the lowpost and finishing off with the hook shot or dishing out to the open man if he gets double-teamed.
He also doesn't get burned by quick guys on the defensive end since he knows how to use his length to make up for the quickness disadvantage (see his defense on Tony Parker in this year's playoffs).
He was killing the Spurs in the playoffs being used as a 3 next to Amare and Shaq.

Re: Wow Boris Diaw!
I totally agree with Bassman. As good as Diaw is I don’t think he is going to be the rebounder we want at the 4. Diaw (to be effective) has to be a 3. I hate to lose Crash but we have to get some rebounding. If we rebounded but last night I think we could have won last night.
Another way to look at is in terms of Okafor. I don’t know how many shots Okafor got last night but I know it wasn’t many. I think this team is at its best when the offense for instance if you look at the Dallas game, we were leading that game due the play of Okafor. The ability to have a second scorer in Diaw and a playmaker like DJ will make this offense better.

Re: Wow Boris Diaw!
I'm with Slam and Paydro here. Wallace can be a great rebounding SF, Okafor is a great rebounding big, if Diaw can just grab the obvious ones but box out so those other two can grab boards, I'll be satisfied.

Re: Wow Boris Diaw!
I guess maybe trading Bell and May or something like that in February wouldn't be so bad. ~25mpg for Curry off of the bench so we have a low post scorer?

Re: Wow Boris Diaw!
The funniest and most tragic part about this ongoing plot to give us Eddy Curry is that he's not even a good rebounder... Wallace is 11.1% on his career, Curry 12%. Why would we want ANOTHER fat guy??
God I can't even take the Curry thing seriously, because that is a move to make me become a Wiz fan.

That is total BS speculation by New York rags, and I would put zero stock in it.
Diaw can play either the 4 or the 3. He presents significant matchup issues when playing the 4, and does a great job abusing smaller forwards when at the 3. He is a key player who will make this team much better (see last night's win as an example). If we keep Crash I think he must gain some court discipline and learn to play with Diaw within the system. I think LB get's frustrated with his freelancing. If we don't trade Wallace we will suffer against larger front lines. That's why I believe LB sees Diaw ultimately at the 3 with a big BIG coming into the picture. But who knows...we could do worse than playing Phoenix-East ball (smaller quicker scoring but tougher defense).
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Wow Boris Diaw!
I highly doubt the Curry thing happens. On the outside chance it did CAN WE PLEASE UNLOAD MOHAMMED.
I think the Curry thing is just speculation. Some things fit so a story gets made up where a "Source (re: Hot Dog Vendor/Hoopsworld editor)" comes up with something.
I say we take advantage of Okalhoma Citys' 2-22 start and offer some trade package that winds up with them getting Nazr Mohammed (the "Veteran") and Charlotte getting Nick Collison (the "effort guy"). Others would have to be involved, please not another 1st round pick, but it could help.
Larry seems to depise Nazr, so just about anything that Nick would bring would be helpful.

I wouldn't recommend putting Diaw at the 3. He has a inconsistant jumper, cause he needs to be in rhythm when he shoots. When he's in rhythm his shot is really smooth though. He can also play the 5 position if needed like when Stoudamire was out for the season he had that breakout year. His athleticism is great, but he just doesn't show it all the time.
There's a video of him winning a dunk contest somewhere, he dunks from the free throw line, and does a between the legs dunk. He was also about 40 lbs lighter then too.

Diaw is a good solid PF for you guys.
I am sure Nuggets would love to have him.

Re: Wow Boris Diaw!
I knew you guys would like Boris. Maybe he's not as flashy as JRich but he does alot of nice things on the court and is still young. JRich is more of an athlete but I think Diaw is more skilled and still surprisingly athletic himself. It would be good to add a true center but there just aren't that many in the NBA. Alot of teams are still successful without starting a true center. I hope you guys just let Okafar/Diaw/GWall/Bell/DJ gel for awhile before rushing into anymore trades. Honestly Felton, Nazr, Ammo, and Carroll should be the only guys you should consider dealing although I'm not sure they have much trade value.
