Haha...Marbury to attend Lakers/Knicks game as a fan!

Post#1 » by klemen4 » Tue Dec 16, 2008 3:59 pm

Steph’s BFF, Marc Berman, reports that the former Knick point guard (can we start calling him that now?) wants to attend the Knicks/Lakers tilt in Hollywood tonight.

Steph, who’s working out in the LA area, will not only be at the game, but he might be sitting courtside among the rich, famous, and totally insane. Gnarly:

Despite being banned from the Knicks New York Knicks , Stephon Marbury Stephon Marbury is strongly thinking about attending tonight’s game in Los Angeles against the Lakers - as a fan.

Marbury was investigating whether he was allowed to buy courtside seats and sit among the celebs.

I was going to say how his seemingly endless hatred for the Knicks organization now would be a welcome fit here, then I realized he's going to a Lakers game as a fan. It cancels the two out I guess.

1st guess: Mike Dunleavy Jr??
2nd guess: probably is the Kings PG, Beno.

My suspicion is that Marbury is auditioning for the open roster spot on the Lakers.

Probably meeting with Phil Jackson, Mitch Kupchack, Kobe Bryant and
Team Captain Derek Fisher while demonstrating
what the soon to be 32 (February) year old has left.

I think the Lakers are scared sh*t about how well 34 year old Derek Fisher
will be able to stay with Rondo come June,
and are probably going to try to land Marbury if he is bought out.

The rumor of backup SG Sasha Vujacic, who they just re-signed this summer,
being on the trading block would only make sense if they are looking to
add Steph Marbury as two guard who can play alongside Kobe
with Kobe running the point and Marbury as the off guard,
with Marbury guarding the opposing PG and Kobe checking the opposing SG.

I haven't laughed that hard in a while, when the cameras went to Steph. Haha, I'm going to root for him now. I'll always have a soft spot for anyone who can make me laugh.

Anyone else a Knicks fan for the night? ;)

No dice man, usually we hear when something is going down. But your analysis is very interesting though. In a logical sense it sounds ok, but the reality of it is finances. We still have our MLE but Mitch is holding it for somebody else.

I wouldn't be surprised if Starbury met up with some of the Laker big whigs. I had heard a rumor that he met with Jeannie Buss.

He's already making close to $20 million this year even with a buyout, money shouldn't be a big deal as opposed to shutting up his critics.

The Lakers have 1 roster spot open, if Starbury's willing to suck up a 1 year veteran minimum or MLE, I'd welcome him to the Lakers. I think Starbury can add an extra weapon to the Lakers and Phil can keep him in line.

Yeah, these comments from Marbury are amusing.

"I'm not worried about that," Marbury said. "All I got to do is get free. Once I get free, the team I'm going to go to a lot of people will be shocked. All the people who say nobody wants me on their team, I'm all different things, a cancer, that's not what's going on."

Marbury, who has a place in L.A., decided to come out here to train and work on his Starbury business. Negotiations with the Knicks are at a stalemate.

"I'm earning my check by doing nothing," Marbury said. "I'm enjoying it to the fullest. I can go in and out of the country when I want during the season. They'll make a decision when they're ready to make a decision. I'm getting healthy, adding two, three years to my career. This has been great for me, able to heal."

Hey, as long as the team isn't Boston. Shock away...

The so-called "shocking" possible destination Marbury could be talking about is the Phoenix Suns. They currently have an open roster spot and a need for a backup guard. Marbury played with Suns coach Terry Porter in Minnesota and, quite frankly, the Steve Kerr-Robert Sarver duo would love nothing more than to take the player Mike D'Antoni exiled and make him an asset. After watching that game, I won't take the Celtics for granted anymore. What kind of offense is run down the floor and jack up a 3? D'Antoni is NEVER gonna win it all with that offense. Putrid game overall.
