Kenny Natt - What do you Think of Him

For the sake of this thread (and thread duplication) keep the discussion strictly on Natt (no Reggie talk). What do you guys think of having Natt as the interim coach?

I think personally he has a better resume than both of our last two coaches. He seemed to know what the problem was on the offensive end last night. He simplified the offense and it worked, for now. He's been under Sloan for years so he's seen great coaching on the NBA level. I can see this move having the same effect on the Kings as the 49ers putting Mike Singletary as interim coach. We're still young, and we will still loose a bunch of games, but I think we will be more competitive going forward.

Well for the first game:

-Natt's willingness to let the players play through the struggle. When we are missing like the first 13 out of the 14 shots in the 1st quarter, Natt let the guy's play through it. This move reminded me Phil Jackson's scheme. (Letting the guys play through the struggle).

-Natt's confidence of the team's shooting. In the post-interview, Natt's claimed that he was confident of the team's shooting. Thus, he alleges that he wanted the offensive scheme to be more simpler. It did work throughout the game. It seems that everyone touched the ball several times and had their offensive opportunites. Thus, eight players in double figures...

-Even though, the rotations seems a bit the same like Reggies' but he still played the young guys because they were just better than the vets for that night. But than again, the majority of the 4th quarter was basically garbage time.

Well overall, I still need several games to formulate a definite opinion on Kenny Natt but one thing is for sure, he seems to be the right coach for the momemt and a fresh voice was needed as well.

Well, before the game in his interview with Napear, I really liked his stated mentality. He said something to the tune of "Even if I'm not the permanent coach, when I leave I want the young guys to be better basketball players." Perfect rebuilding attitude. I like his experience too, he went to the Finals as an assistant in Cleveland and in Utah.

Rotations didn't change much from Theus thus far, but he was just named coach that morning, so it's not surprising. It'll be more clear after he has a bit of practice time.

As for what kind of plays he was running, it was a lot of pick and rolls and a lot of post ups. Definitely more than what Theus was doing. I like the idea of going back to the basics and simplicity, it should help our young guys a lot. Natt seems like the low key, meat and potatoes type, so it's good to see the Kings trying to keep things simple.

Natt seems like a good rebuilding coach at first glance, but we'll see as the time goes on.

At one point in the game Jason Thompson was complaining to the refs about a traveling call. Kenny calmly told JT to go play defense. I like that. one of my pet peeves is guys complaining to the refs when they should be getting back on their defensive assignment. Let Kenny talk to the refs when the clock is running. The players can wait until a whistle blows and then calmly ask the ref about the call.

I liked Kenny's observation that during that cold spell to start the Twolves game the team attempted to many jump shots. He commented he wants the Kings to post up and drive to the bucket.

Just those two things alone:
1) Quit crying to the refs and get back and play some D.
2) Score in the paint.
Should improve the team. I also like Kenny's attitude about working hard in practice. He stated that the games are won during practice by working hard.

I'm going to bookmark this and come back to it after the first of the year. I think it's just too hard to be fair about what I think about him until I've seen more than 2 games.

That said, I am optimistic about his promotion. Sitting on Sloan's bench automatically gives him a huge pool of experience to draw from. The big question for me is whether he will be able to draw from that experience and use it to both develop the young guys and get the team to play competitive games. Winning is not as important right now; what's more important is that guys play like a cohesive unit and take pride in their game from here on out. If I see the hints over the next couple of weeks that that can become a reality, then I will have a favorable impression of Natt.

Though i believe NATT should finish out the coaching season i see nothing at all special about him as coach i think for anyone to directly judge his head coaching skills at this point would be nothing more than speculation /a guess .

I have no doubt PETRIE will seek out a more experienced veteran coach possibly one of the mentioned below
