The Cs need to send Big Baby packing. I really have fallen out of favor with his game. So if they could send Giddens and Big Baby in a package deal that works for me.

I might be a bit of a Mizzou homer, but I'd love to deal Giddens/Big Baby for Linus Kleiza, which would clear up the roster spot for either PJ or Mutumbo.
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

We can dream. That'd be a great deal, I'm not sure the Nuggets would feel the same way though.

Re: Celtics shopping Giddens (Yahoo! Sports)
If Ainge is able to get a 1'st for Giddens, then he's really accomplished something. A late first round pick implies a really good team - does one of the really good teams think it is a Giddens away from a championship? Trading him for a mid or high first round (likely) pick just isn't realistic. Playing in the DLeague, he just couldn't prove to be that kind of worth.
IMO, Ainge would be gauging if there is interest at him at any price, then see if a 2 for 1 can be arranged for a 1'st round pick, or depth someplace we need it. Giddens plus something for a backup SF perhaps, and sign Mutombo into the open position. But Giddens by himself, that just seems to be an odd move.

Agree completely on this...Big Baby is on my permanent ****...can't stand him. He's lousy and contributes nothing other than his size...BFD.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Re: Celtics shopping Giddens (Yahoo! Sports)
Giddens was already thought to be kind of a reach when we took him and he hasn't really showed anything else. Maybe we can get a late first in the 2009 draft with how thin it looks or an early second to a team looking for another prospect, but it seems like Danny's overrated him a bit still.

Yes exactly. I'd be all over this. Nuggets would pass

Re: Celtics shopping Giddens (Yahoo! Sports)
Update: I have it from a VERY reliable source that this morning’s Yahoo! rumor regarding the Celtics trying to deal away JR Giddens is simply untrue – while the Celtics routinely have discussions with other teams about everyone on each team’s roster, there has been no specific effort to shop JR Giddens around the league, especially since JR has been playing so well in the D-League. As a result, the Celtics front office was very surprised to read the rumor in Adrian Wojnarowski’s column this morning.

Re: Celtics shopping Giddens (Yahoo! Sports)
I think given that the Celtics have built a championship team based on DA's ability to draft, develope and deal makes Giddens value much higher. There are teams that are weak at the 2 and are flush with future picks. Oklahoma comes to mind. They would be wise to grab some Celtic talent.
It isn't like we don't like the kid. It is that we are flush with talent. We took a gamble on Walker and it has paid off. Pruitt is having trouble getting time.

Thank God, I really don't like Giddens, I'd take a 2nd round pick for him.

Another reason sending him (and Walker) down to d-league makes sense. Not only do they get more quality playing experience but rather than riding the pine into obscurity they can put up gaudy numbers against weaker competition and build value as potential trading blocks.

Sounds like the classic, requisite, non-denial denial: I mean, well, his name might have come up, but we certainly weren't shopping him, and have you seen the numbers he's been putting up?

I like the idea of having a Linas on the team, that was my first dogs name lol.
Either way I wouldn't be surprised to see a deal go down today or tomorrow somewhere in the league, we just passed the Dec.15th deadline. What was it, 4 years ago we made the Ricky for EWill trade?

I like Giddens and feel he will be a good player. Giddens may be able to take Tony Allen's spot pretty soon, if TA keeps on struggling.

I'd be surprised to see Giddens go, I'm among the many that was impressed more with Walker this fall but Giddens is a sick athlete with some legit talent and size at guard. He does everything, scores, passes, rebounds, defends.

I like Baby more than Kleiza, personally. On a good day, Kleiza is James Posey on a good day minus the defense. On a bad day, Kleiza really sucks. He is a better solution than Scal @ SF though, and is still fairly young, so that wouldn't be a bad deal. Balkman I would definitely be in favor of.
I wouldn't have minded seeing a Giddens/filler for Javaris Crittenton deal, but that would seem unlikely to happen now.
In general, it would seem less than ideal to trade Giddens away while his value is so low. Also, I am personally not down too much on Baby. Big body, can defend, solid on the offensive glass, and can finish under the rim.

Linas Kleiza is a substantially better offensive player than James Posey...

Re: Celtics shopping Giddens (Yahoo! Sports)
Both Giddens and Walker have been surprises for me since I don't watch college ball, but they have been both playing great down in the D-league and shown a lot of improvement. If anyone has to go to open up a roster spot for a veteran, its veterans who suck (here's looking at you Scals). How can this guy still be on this team? Also how come Donny Marshall is the only one that realizes that the crowd is actually mocking him when he comes in, making him out to be the human victory cigar, he's the 5 million dollar side show!

You have just been Perk'd!!!

Re: Celtics shopping Giddens (Yahoo! Sports)
We'd be very lucky and Ainge would look like a genius to get a second rounder for Giddens.
People forget he was the last pick in the first round, he's on a guaranteed contract. To get the flexibility of that and a pick would be great. It'd be worth it almost just to trade him for a TPE if we were going to sign a vet. Merely because we would have that cap flexibility to sign the vet for free now and that money off the books for the next 3 years when with Ray,Pierce,Tony we don't need anything more then a Walker contract.

No spot on the roster? NO SPOT ON THE ROSTER?!?!? Is that a joke. Of course theres a spot. Make Cassel assistant coach already, damn.
