Lakers don't scare me one bit

Post#1 » by cfan79 » Thu Dec 18, 2008 7:49 pm

I think the Celtics are much better then the Lakers. LA has too many players like Vujacic and Luke Walton. Guys that can't play defense on a 5 year old. I keep seeing in my head Ray losing Vujacic in the finals and taking it to the hole. They can expect more of that if they somehow are lucky enough to get to the finals.

The Cavs are the scary team. But honestly sometimes teams lose to "unscary" teams. Did anyone think Dallas was scared of Miami? Likewise the Lakers were not scared of the Celtics..

Not at all, you have players like Farmar, Vlad, Bynum, Walton all complaining about minutes and the coaches decision making... ask yourself this, would the Big 3 ever allow players like Gabe Pruitt, Glen Davis or J.R. Giddens to come out and publicly make a big deal about their playing time? I fear for them if they ever try to.

Good point, but the Celtics defense has been unwavering most of the season just like last year. Much like Phoenix used to be Dallas based their gameplan too much on just offense. They were lucky to get to the finals that year.

Any team that makes it to the playoffs scares me. You never know what can happen. I fear the Cavs the most, then the Lakers and then the Hawks.

haha I know, KG already made Baby cry this season for playing bad. I'd be afraid to see what he would do to Vujacic if he were on this team. Especially since he really doesn't like point guards. He'd probably lock him in a cage while he looks in at him with that "I want to kill you" gaze.

The Lakers have never scared me at any point in the last two seasons. Even last season during the playoffs I was more worried about the Cavs and Pistons.

That thread is a brave one considering complete Southern California is hyped up for the matchup on Dec 25.

Hopefully Kobe doesn't put on the father/husband of the year act again. I felt like puking when the cameras were filming him and his daughters in the finals.

the cavs are especially scary this year. their D is just as good but their O is light-years better. the lakers started out playing good D but they've been pretty inconsistent lately.

Just to make one correction, Walton hasn't complained not once about his role or minutes. Although he was recently inserted back in the starting 5, he never complained.........unless there is some media info I didn't see to my knowledge he just tried to stay ready.

But I'm not bothered by what I see here, it's all competition anyway. We've been playing OK for now but we've still been getting the W's and that's all that counts. But I'll concede we'll have to play much better if we expect to win, I'm not going to fool myself in thinking we can "half ass it" against the champs and expect a positive result .

The way we are playing right now, nobody in the NBA scares me. Not Kobe and the Lakers, not James and the Cavs, not anybody.

The only thing that scares me are injuries.

I won't say that there's a team that scares me but I feel confident in the Boston team to be in these games knowing that they excel at team defense. When you defend, you give yourself a chance to at least keep the game competitive. As I've said before, when you're a team that allows as many points to teams as you put up yourself. How can you expect to win a lot of games. You might think differently during the regular season. However, it's different during the playoffs. You can't be giving up all those points on defense and still expect to win. I mean these two hundred plus final scores is ridiculous.

Cleveland concerns me but feeling concern isn't the same thing as being scared or afraid to face a certain team. Cleveland plays solid defense so you've to take them seriously.

I think it's funny to read that a team is supposedly circling dates on their calender that are against you. Well, you do that. You just make sure you win so you don't come up with excuses if you happen to lose.

They dont scare me because of the following reasons.

Fisher can't get a shot off against Rondo.

Kobe is great, but we have 3 solid defenders that we can throw at him over the course of a game. Pierce, Ray, and TA.

They have no defensive answer for the Ray/Paul tandem. This is probably why they both played so well in the finals.

Pau Gasol can't consistently score on KG. KG can consistently out-rebound and out-muscle Pau.

Their advantage over us in the starting 5 matchup is Bynum vs. Perk. How much of their offense runs through Bynum? like 10%?

The ONLY advantage they have over us is the bench because nobody on our bench can defend Lamar Odom. Powe will foul the crap out of him, Baby is too slow, TA is too short.

But Lamar Odom is not going to carry anyone to a title.

Cavs are a scary team. Lebron and Ilgauskas always present problems for us. Lebron because he's the best player in the world and Ilgauskas because of his height and shooting ability. They are the team that frightens me like a little girl.
