Retro Jazz: Back to 06-07

Post#1 » by Duiz » Thu Dec 18, 2008 4:11 am

Do you remember when Boozer had that injury that kept him off for a part of the year... the very same year Okur made the All-Star? I believe it was 06-07.

During that year, something funny happened to the Jazz. If I remember the stats right... When Okur scored 21 PPG duringJazz wins, and 13 PGG during Jazz's losses.

Yup, we are back.

Game - Result - Points

@ Sas - L - 11
@ Mem - W - 23
vs. Chi - L - 26
vs. Mem - W - 21
vs. Sac - W - 20
vs. Njn - L - 10
@ Sac - W - 9
vs. Mia - L - 6
vs. Tor - W - 21
@ Pho - L - 12
@ Min - W - 21
vs. Por - W - 27
vs. Orl - L - 12
@ Bos - L - 13
@ Njn - W - 23

My theory stands mostly correct 13 out of 15 times (@ Sac, vs. Chi being the only exceptions). This makes a beautiful 12.9 PPG for Okur during Jazz losses, and 20.6 PPG for Okur during Jazz wins. I conclude that the most accurate factor whether the Jazz do well or bad in a game, while maintaining the current roster conditions, is whether Okur scores at around 21 points or 12 points.

*EDIT: I recalculated the numbers without the exception games and here are the results.

Okur scores during,
Jazz losses: 10.7 PPG
Jazz wins: 22.3 PPG

Incredible that Okur finished with 23.

Not much to say, Duiz. You're right. When Memo has a good game, Jazz usually do well.

23 points by Memo in the loss.
