Farmar Vents to Phil about his role

I am a huge Jordan Farmar fan but his perimeter defense has not shown up dating back to last year. He needs to stop working on his offensive game and get better lateral movement so he can guard the quick point guards in the west and RAJON RONDO.

I don't know why he's all upset about or want the front office to tell what he needs to do..

It's kinda obvious they want D and if you're a defensive liability.. you're going to get less minutes. Defense wins games... plain and simple. He has the body built for speed but we don't see it... guys are running pass him.. Or maybe he's thinking too much of what plays to use next on the fast break...

I getting real tired of Jordan and his not being receptive to coaching or running a designed offense that is way more proven then he is. You can't look for the break every time in ball, you gotta at some point run your sets to maintain tempo.

As far as I'm concerned I'm just counting the days until we unload him, because he showing cancer tendencies.

Preach on Deep

Ideally I'd love to see him hitched to LO's wagon on the way out for a defensive guard and a forward that fits a bit better. (prince, rasheed, battier, artest, Jefferson etc)

Deep is right.......... He gets beat on every single play on D, its like someone nailed his ass to the ground, he doesnt move his feet instead he grabs specially on backdoor picks, then he gets called for foul and he cries and whines like a freakin baby.
Hes undersized and he doesnt have a first step and he has bad bad habbit of dribbling in a crowd and dumping the ball at anyone he can and makes a turnover and blames someone else for it.
AND HE HAS THE BALLS TO COMPLAIN............ Skip him.

Farmar is pathetic in my book now, how do you not know that you suck at defense? The ego of some people :( ****

I hate this media bullS**T of being politically correct, trying to negate everything like it never happened. Phil J needs to say some **** to fire up the damn team, go public and say Bynum needs to play defense, farmar needs to play defense, Kobe needs to step up.

I wanna see Kobe get in the face of his teammates for missing their assignments. When KG does it, it's great leadership/intensity, when Kobe does it, that fa@ Curt Schilling comes out with his gay blogs. Who cares Kobe, who cares what the media says, go out there and yell at your teammates so they'll get some balls to play hard-nose b-ball.

I swear this league is soft as hell, and it's because of the stupid rules, you cannot touch him with your hand or you'll be called for a foul, bull!

Would the Wizards want to swap Crittenton now?

Well.. he doesn't need to look any further than our own locker room and learn from guys like LO making sacrifices for the good of the team. Does he think he's more talented than that? He's had opportunities to stake his claim by playing good D and its a pity that he can't see that.

If I was sitting behind someone as limited as D-Fish I'd be pissed too.

But with myself.

What the?

What are you guys complaining about, that Farmar showed some initiative by approaching Phil Jackson and asked him to clarify his role?

Maybe Farmar should have the standard thing, pout, sulk, passively aggressively distance himself from his teammates and coaching staff?

This just shows me how much Farmar wants to succeed on the Lakers. Great decision on his part, a constructive way to find ways to contributing again.

+1

I posted the same post earlier Miles (not as effortless as you, but I posted none the less), but deleted it. I was going to cut the guys some slack on missing the pitch (made men got caught looking who are usaully sharp as cheddar Tony Boy, Deep, DD, jfar), but that was a fastball right down the center of the plate.

If he hit a few jumpers then he would be able to talk until then he should shut it. Even a dribble drive w/ a kick be nice like one time/ or an alley oop. The big guys inside should be getting easy dunks not back to the basket all night.

Part of that is the triangle I know but, their has to be room to get away from the triangle in certain situations

Getting beaten off the dribble by inferior guards does not give him a right to question anything.

I have no problem with Farmar going to Phil's office and venting. Better that than for him to be a problem in the locker room. I actually think this shows some maturity on his part that you don't always see even in some veteran NBA ballers.
People, relax. He just went to Phil and expressed frustartion about his role. He wants clarification of what is expected of him. There is nothing wrong with that.
Cancer tendencies?
I thought a cancer in the locker room is one who undermines other players, coaches, and ultimately the team. I have heard no evidence that Farmar has done that.

That said, I too am not happy with his play of late.
He showed great improvement between his rookie and second years. He worked his butt of that summer to improve his game and he did just that. He has not shown the same leap from last year to this year.
He needs better footwork on defense. I don't think his problem is defensive speed. He has plenty of speed. He has poor footwork which prevents him to get to spots on the floor on defense in order to stay in front of his man. I think the Lakers should invest in a coach (like Cooper) to work one on one with Farmar much like Kareem is working with Bynum.
I think that investment will go a long way.
I guess I'm not quit ready to give up on this guy yet.

I think Phil needs to be more consistant. He should have the players roles figured out by now.

I can respect that, so what your saying is that he took the initiative of approaching his coach and asking him what he can do to make this team and himself better.
I can dig that, so Farmar being a good player and an intellegant one as well should be able to make some changes and hopefully play better and smarter in the next few games.
Okay Im all for it.
Let see what happens.
