Ron Ron

Post#1 » by RocketRed » Fri Dec 19, 2008 8:34 am

Since my buddies at The Chronicle won't say it:

We haven't gotten the Artest we hoped for.

The shirt-tearing-off, chest-beating, mad-dogging, in-your-face--and yes--flagrant-fouling Ron Artest that the league loves and hates.

That's the Ron Artest that I wanted.

When Yao is getting hacked and being his usual obsequious self . . . Bring Ron in. Let him do the dirty work (or, for that matter, bring Joey Dorsey in--even better).

The thing is, you can't win with a bunch of pussy cats. Just glance at the antithesis of the pussies:

The Boston Celtics.

Kevin Garnett has turned into a real bully and that may tarnish his quintessential sportsmanship legacy . . . BUT HE'S WINNING ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP.

(Yup, I'm calling it already. Celtics again in six. Garnett's tasted it. He ain't giving it up, at least not this year.)

He's punking teammates and opponents.

Ain't nobody on our team snatching anyone into the huddle and saying: "You gave up a f****** 25 point lead--you better listen!"

That's all T-Mac needs. Here's the scenario:

Rockets down 10 with 2 minutes to go in the fourth to Memphis.

Adelman calls a full timeout.

T-Mac leisurely lingers over to the sideline.

Ron snatches his ass into the huddle, T-Mac snatches his hand away in disbelief and wanders to the end of the bench and poutingly sits while his team discusses how to win the game.

Ron glances over to T-Mac sick with disgust.

Ron saunters over to T-Mac:

"Motherfu*****, you're making 23 million a year for acting like a bitch! Your team is playing its heart out and you over here acting like a little girl.

You got all that damn talent and you making excuses instead of being humble.

Play. Bitch. Play."

See that's the thing. T-Mac will never do it on his own.

Down six to the Celtics in the Championships on a national stage with cameras all around and with a minute to go he may pull off a miracle but it's the getting there that's hard.

Going against Memphis is hard.

That's what I hoped Ron would do--snatch T-Mac back to reality and snatch Oberto or Golden State's Randolph out of the air when he's hacking Yao. He'd earn a game suspension of two, nothing drastic, just something to let them know that the Rockets ain't taking that **** anymore. If he's fined, Yao would pay his fine.

Honestly, Ron is doing a hell of a job--he's scoring more than I thought he would. And let me say that I don't want the going-into-the-stands Ron either. He should know how to temper his passion by now. What I want is Ron on the floor and in the locker room, do I want him to make it his team . . . ?

Yes.

Weare not a soft team , even before Artest got here.

In all honesty, This thread is pointless. Artest would be suspended more than 1-2 games.. Plus we dont need somone going out fighting to be a 'tough team'

Garnett can yank Big Baby like that because Baby is a 3rd string bench player on GARNETT'S team. Ron can't yank McGrady like that because it's not HIS team. You do something stupid like that (publicly showing up another alpha dog on your side) and you're gonna cause a LOT of friction. Like Shay said, we're also not a soft team, AND I don't want Artest picking up stupid suspensions.

Why not just get a Red Rowdy to go to the bench and fire the guys up? Makes sense :D

Rockets lack leadership. Heart and toughness was never a problem for Houston even before Artest came.

If Artest, Battier, TMac, and Yao were always healthy, IMO it would be cheating. The Rockets would rip off some heads and force the Commissioner to disband the team for the sake of fair competition.

I still think we lack the toughness on our team. Adelman and the coaching staff won't admit it but it's true. That's why getting Mutombo is a must. He was one of our toughest players on the team, and he plays the toughest position in the NBA.

As for the topic, I agree, we havent gotten the Artest we have hoped for yet. But lately he has come on. He has shot the ball well these last 3 games, and has played great defense. Thats why I like the idea of him coming off the bench, so he can give us that instant spark.
