I'm sure I surprise no one by saying I love hypothetical trade situations, and I want to give a much longer response to this interesting thread when I have a little more time. I owe a big post to the cap space thread too, but life keeps getting in the way.
I will say this: Al Jefferson appears to have trememndous value around the league. In a recent poll of RealGM posters on the Trade Board, I believe Al finished in the Top 15 in trade value. He gets points for his age and his ability of course, but don't neglect the fact that he's locked into a fairly cheap contract for the next five years, which is something you can say about very few big men. He would bring back a ton, if we ever considered trading him.

Re: Hypothetical Situation
Lets say the Wolves got the 1st pick in the Draft like stated before, told the Thunder they were taking offers for Griffen. Does anyone think the Thunder would do this deal
Griffen/Foye
Thabeet/ Westbrook
Then if that trade goes through trade Love and Miami's pick to get another top pick, and try to get Harden
Westbrook/Teliar
Harden/Brewer
Miller/Gomes
Jefferson/Smith
Thabeet
If the Thunder just decide to keep Thabeet, then we could always go to a different team and get good offers for the pick. Im sure the Wizards would listen.

I don't think I want any part of a Griffin-Thabeet trade.

Re: Hypothetical Situation
In fantasy GM land I think this is about the best I could hope for with the Wolves:
2009 off season:
- Swap picks with Sacramento if drafting higher and if SacTown's pick is in a spot where a top PG is available. Swap picks + Al Jefferson for Kevin Martin. I think this is workable if the Wolves end up with Harden and the Kings are only 2-3 picks down.
- Trade Heat pick + Mike Miller and Brian Cardinal for a maxed out and extended Caron Butler.
- Draft best point available (probably Jennings or Holiday).
- Give offer sheet to Nenad Krstic or Rasho
- If Butler deal cannot be worked out, give offer sheet to Trevor Ariza or Josh Childress
1- (Jennings/Holiday)/Bassy
2- Martin/Foye/Brewer
3- Butler/Gomes/Brewer
4- Love/Smith
5- Krstic/Madsen
Wait for Pekovic and attempt to bring on an athletic 4/5 like Sean Williams as a more acceptable backup to Madsen.

Re: Hypothetical Situation
^I like all those moves except the Jefferson-Martin swap. Al has more value than Martin and our pick would be higher. SAC should be giving us more in return. Pick swap + Jefferson for Martin and Hawes MAYBE but, otherwise, just keep Al, draft Harden, and maybe trade Foye for Conley.
Conley/Telfair
Harden/Brewer
Butler/Gomes
Love/Smith
Jefferson/Krstic
Conley/Telfair

Butler/Gomes
Love/Smith

Right, although I thought that Durant going to Seattle (a natural rival of Portland at the time, who just got Oden) was rigged too. Wouldn't shock me to see Griffin end up in OKC, but I'm not convinced there's any real conspiracy.

Can Durant and Griffin co-exist, though?
I know they never played against each other in college, but that's Texas versus Oklahoma! How can they even be in the same lockerroom?

Re: Hypothetical Situation
Jefferson for Russell Westbrook & Jeff Green is a no brainer on it's own. Jeff Green is not a power Forward. His numbers have gone up nicely from last year and he dosent seem to be a injury type player his game will continue to improve.
Now Russell, I see they are begining to start him there and he is going to blow at that point deal will not be able to be done if OKC would even make it now, Westbrook will be a very very nice point gaurd in this leauge is flashy and exciting.
Jefferson will never take a club to the championship and is very predictable, I like AJ but feel that by bringing in 1 very nice peice and 1 solid peice freeing up Love to get out and get big burn.
then next year draft a center or stud shooting gaurd, Seems I read some thing about free agent money gonna get spent Wade prolly aint on the way. but it is important to finish cleaning up the mess that was started last year, I am surprised he cleared most of the mess with the miami trade then got jacric out.
With something like this it shows that Timberwolves are going in the right direction. Crash aint the guy. Rubio looks like he could brake in two.
Book it Russell , Green , Love are young players that start looking atractive to vets . Would anyone consider this? Would OKC do it? seems to help both teams.
