ESPN is calling Goran "Magic" Dragic a bust already?

Post#1 » by SUNSARETHEBEST » Fri Dec 19, 2008 8:42 pm

In the dailydime they made a list of seven players who don't deserve to be in the NBA. Here it is...

Lucky 7 ... as in, fortunate to be drawing an NBA paycheck
1. Ricky Davis, Clippers: He has the league's worst PER, and he's played only 277 minutes because of a knee injury, which reminds us of the old joke about a neighborhood's worst restaurant: "The food there is terrible, and the portions are so small!"

2. J.J. Redick, Magic: Gunner got a chance to play and proved he couldn't, with a 35.7 field goal percentage.

3. Brian Scalabrine, Celtics: Has Michael Jordan's brain type and Bill Parcells' body type ... a five-year, $15 million contract ... and, yes, a championship ring.

4. Kwame Brown, Pistons: The former No. 1 pick has regressed more than Brad Pitt in that new "Benjamin Button" movie.

5. Mark Madsen, Wolves: Players all over the world are wondering, "Why him and not me?"

6. Goran Dragic, Suns: The search for Steve Nash's understudy continues.

7. Mike James, Wizards: When a point guard changes teams nine times in eight seasons ...

It's funny because every single one of those guys is a vetran that had a chance in the league while Dragic has just been in the league for a few months and people are calling him a bust. The guy barely had any playing time yet, if you remember Steve Nash came into the league and was the same as Dragic and he turned out to be a two time MVP. As said before the guy is a rookie comming over from another country, so why doesnt ESPN name Euro's from other teams who come over a bust but signal out Dragic? I hope Dragic proves everyone wrong and dunks on everyone like he did during his time in Slovenia.

Problem with him isn't lack of basketball skills, it's lack of selfconfidence and not just on the court, man he is a nice guy and all but he acts like he is 12 like some of you said. If he would loosen up on the court i belive he would impress many of you. But let's just give him more time and some more chances and see what happens, it's way too early to call him a bust.

He has a ton of skill, that much is evident. He also has some pretty good instincts. He just has to hone them and mature. He'll be fine.

This is exactly what happened with Udrih, and our own Nash. Now look where they are..

Well if ESPN is saying it then...

I mean, it is kind of stupid to be saying this stuff when the kid hasn't even been in the NBA for half a season, but what do I really think? Whatever...

NEXT!

Its a nice JAB at Kerr.... and he F-n deserves it.....

considering we PAID San Antonio $ 500K, and the 48th pick for the 45th pick ie Dragic. Then had to pony up 1.7, 1.8, and 1.9 million smackers for a kid who appears to be a couple good D-League years away.

Yup.... somebody there in ESPN isn't drinkin the Kerr-laid...too bad it gets spilled on Goran.

The whole Dragic saga was horribly managed. From the legal issues they werent prepared for (nobody even knew which team owned the rights to Dragic!) to the misinformation about when he could be bought out, to the crapload of money we had to pay him upfront to even put him on our team, to the unending hype about how he is so good, to the complete lack of testicular fortitude he is displaying on the court.

Kerr was more ready to pull the trigger than Dragic was prepared for NBA playing. Its definitely not Dragic's fault, the dude was just chilling in Slovenia living life. They should both be embarrassed.

Although, how many of us were super hyped last season when Kerr pimped the resigning of Sean Marks, who had a superb preseason, then sat on the bench all year.

We should've left Dragic in Europe for a few seasons and bring him back when his contract expired. We paid too much for a guy who will need a few seasons to get be NBA ready when we needed someone NOW.

Can a 2nd round pick even be considered a bust?

They can when your front orfice publicly declares them the second best PG in draft, essentially nosethumbing all the other GMs who selected other PGs.... couple that with his rediculous price tag and overall lack of impact to his predicted/expected contribution level.

-- Nice take on this, RB. It will be a real shame if after all the time wasted by the FO on finding someone to backup Nash, they pin it on a kid who clearly needed to be brought along at his own pace.
We needed a vet who could hold his own while Nash sat, and a young guy to groom for the future. bringing Dragic in as some kind of EuroJesus player and hyping him in the fashion they did was patently unfair to everyone, the player, the team, the fans.
Of course, the time to begin tutoring an heir was two or three years ago
