Ideal Future!
Hey Guys...
I am a new poster but have been fan of this site for a while!
Around the NBA, the Kings' talent is completely underrated!
Although Kevin Martin is a great player... he is NOT a #1 Option!
If we can make Martin the #2 Option, Imagine the damage we can do!
Can you name 3 Team whose #2 Option is better than Martin? NO!
I'm not sure where we can get that Star player but here is my ideal situation:
First of all, Beno is NOT the starter we hoped he would be!
Nor do I think he has the ability to be the energetic bench player we need!
Try and trade Beno to a contending team around the trade deadline for a prospect or pick!
But I believe that Bobby Brown could be the longterm backup PG!
I hope with our top 5 pick in 2009, we can draft a top tier point guard in Jennings or Lawson!
I like Jennings because he is maturing and has that explosive factor to him!
I like Lawson because he can lead the team with his great shot, passing, and DEFENSE!
I'm not too sold on Rubio for our team, because he is only 18 years old + he doesnt have as much upside or athleticism as the other 2!
Kevin Martin is a great SG but not a go-to guy!
I like the thought of him starting with Francisco coming off the bench as our 6th man!
This may be controversial but I believe that John Salmons should be on the way out!
I love John Salmons and believe he is a fantastic player but doesnt seem to fit the mold of this team!
I am not sure if the Magic would accept this but Hedo comes to mind as the ideal SF!
Salmons/Moore for Hedo/Battie! Might Work Pluse I Don't See Mikki wit us for long!
Donte Greene has shown sparks as a great SF but time will only tell!
Whoever doubted Petrie when he drafted Thompson, don't make that mistake again !
Thompson deserves to start right now! With his postup moves + hustle he will go far!
With our Second 1st Round Pick in 2009, We must get a Big man!
I can see Hansbrough being available at early 20's! What you think???
While Miller is NOT in our longterm plans, we should keep him until his contract runs out UNLESS we find a trade we can not refuse!
Hawes is, well Hawesome, and he already looks better than Miller but Miller can teach Hawes some things that could turn Hawes into an All-Star Center!
Do NOT Resign Douby, Thomas, Miller, Williams and only sign B-Jax if for league min!
Future Depth Chart:
PG: Jennings or Lawson/Brown/B-Jax?
SG: K-Mart/Cisco
SF: Hedo/ Greene
PF: Thompson/Hansbrough/Battie
C: Hawes/ Miller
What do you think? Realistic? Wise? Opinions?

I think you need to stop using so many exclamation marks!
I think that trade is ridiculous and will never happen!
I think both your draft picks are somewhat reasonable!
But why would they want to trade hedo?!
It doesnt make any sense whatsoever!
Are you a fourth grader?!
Did your daddy tell you his favorite player and then you decided to make an extremely unrealistic post?!
Just think about it!

Re: Ideal Future!
I think there should be a more defensive oriented big back-up at PF and C... with your proposal there, there's too much offense and lack of size (bench) (length, mass) ) up there.
Hedo as a short-term guy at SF is fine, but longer-term somebody who's notably skilled defensively and at least adequate offensively has to be at SF. Or a two-way kind of SF.
I see no other credible options for either of those areas

Re: Ideal Future!
I can agree with most of it, but I don't think it's time to dump Beno, nor will it be possible right now most likely. He is producing roughly the same way that got him that contract in the first place, he has to cut down the turnovers though. Once again though, I think that has a little to do with mis-use. He is NOT Steve Nash, he is NOT best used as a player that you want or need 8 apg out of, and he out of all the players on the team is most in need of a system. I think once he knows his role, and it's not to be the hub of the offense!!!, he'll be much better. He isn't going to develop into a 20 and 10 guy, he showed enough last season for anyone to know that, but he also showed that once he's more under control he'll be fairly paid and worth his deal for the most part.
As for John I agree, I think his biggest value to this team may be in the form of a trade. He is a very good player but I don't know if he's the SF for us. Maybe the SG but that obviously means something else has to change. I don't think it's necessary to get him out of here now but I would certainly dangle him if the right situation presents itself. For instance if we need to move up, or down, a little in the draft. He'd be an excellent piece in a trade. Or maybe even if a star PF should become available he'd make a great value piece going in the opposite direction.

Today, Boozer announced he WILL opt out!
every1 on here seems mesmorized by him coming 2 sac!
He is not a star PF and Thomas has shown signs of greatness.
I'd like to see our efforts thrown at Bosh in 2010 and move Thomas to the 3!

I assume that you are talking about Thompson, and not Thomas...

Wow, my mistake. hahaha Thomas doesn't deserve to even sit on our bench haha!
But Thompson however could play the 3 very well.

Re: Ideal Future!
I think in time Thompson could play minutes at the 3, but when he has this year he hasn't been as effective, and thats mainly due to him having some tough matchups & players he is not used to guarding. I think in time that will be better as will his offense, so he will be create a matchup problem for that team. But I don't really think he should ever play the 3 full time. He is much more suited for PF.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

So who should play the 3 longterm for the kings?

Greene, if he's enough defensively (quick enough laterally and mental development), or somebody not on the team yet.

Re: Ideal Future!
Agreed. I think a combination of Salmons and Greene is the future. I know some people don't think Salmons fits into the future of the kings, but I don'tagree.
For one, Salmons is a great defender at a position (2 & 3) where many of the leagues best players are. Defense wins championships, thats a proven fact. Couple that with his ability to scoring ability and that he is only 27, I don't see why a combination of him and greene is not the future, and not knowing how good greene can be, it could be a very bright future.

Re: Ideal Future!
Salmons needs to be phased out because he plays terribly off the bench and is a ballhog.
What we need is a legit PG and a legit coach. Dump Miller and Moore and Beno, they're not leading us anywhere. We need a legit player and we need to play legit D. We need a coach like JVG this offseason, make a trade or signing for a damn good player/star, and we need to hit a home run with our draft pick.

Re: Ideal Future!
Well, phasing out Salmons considering that Martin is out, I just don't want to think about the possibility. We would be actually contending for that #1 pick with the Thunder. Salmons, a player that excel under one-on-one situations, keeps this team somewhat competitive and is the focal point of the our offense. But I do agree that Salmons isn't the ideal fit for the team but he is our legit player/offense so far. Salmons is a nice, quality trading piece. We have possible trade options with him due to his value IMO.

I'm not saying I'd dump him like Bibby or trade him for youth like we did with Artest. I want to see us get a legit player, maybe a young PG. I'm sick of Beno to be honest, sick of Salmons 1 on 1 ball, and I want to see a real offense. I really would love to see us get a young guy like Kyle Lowry who can play the Rajon Rondo role. Guy who can play D, handle the ball well, pass first, and get to the basket.
I'd love to see us get Marion for Miller also. That'd be awesome.

Yeah, I see what you mean. It can be possible. Salmons value IMO is high right now. We have a lot of options right now. Trading him (or package him) for something ideal for the team. Probably a young PG like you stated. Kyle Lowry is a nice player. I honestly believe that when given an opportunity he can be a solid player in this league. I also like Mike Conley as well. Even though, he is having a bad year, he still has a considerable upside.
The alleged rumor of Miller/Thomas for Marion. I'm not sure if it is true or not. But if it is actually offered to us, IMO we should do this. We get cap flexibility next year. A large expiring in Marion, not picking up option of Williams/Douby, Moore's partial guaranteed year and SAR's insurance. That is considerably a good place to be in at 2009. Especially, Boozer will opt out in that year. To be honest, I would push for Boozer if we traded Miller to get flexibility for 2009.

Oh come on. Without Salmons this year, we'd be lucky to have won 2 games.

Another reason to trade Salmons now as opposed to later is that you won't be able to tack on the fact that he may have the best contract into the league onto the positive side later.

Do you think we could land Joe Johnson in 2010?
