Whats the deal with Conley? Comin out everyone thought he was going to be great. he had injury issues last yr, does that play a role? Or is he just not going to be that good? He has all the tools, thats not really my worry. Then again i dont see many games, so jus wondering whats holding him back?

He's young. One year of college and still only 78 games under his NBA belt. He's had difficulty adjusting to playing with two big time scorers who need to have the ball. That's something wholly new to him. However, the past 7 or so games Iavaroni's run a rotation where Lowry plays the 1st and 3rd quarters and Conley plays 2 and 4. Both have responded quite well to it. Over that period the Grizz are 5 and 2.

He'll be fine. Likely not a superstar, but a solid point eventually.

Nail on the head.

Although I would add that it seems like Conley might have a Darko-type mentality: confidence (or the lack thereof) dictates how well (or bad) he'll play on any given night. Obviously, that's true for almost every player, but it seems magnified with Darko IMO.

Conley's most effective with the ball in his hands.

Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo are the two best players on the Grizz.

Gay and Mayo are most effective with the ball in their hands.

I think he's going to continue to struggle without any shooters on the floor (Mayo can shoot, but he's more comfortable scoring off the dribble).

Conley would be more effective on a Rashard Lewis/Ray Allen lineup than a Rudy Gay/OJ Mayo lineup. He's not a good off the ball player.

He's also struggled on defense because of his lack of size, and he hasn't show a lot of toughness on defense either.
