OT: Nellie tells Anthony Randolph to find a trade?

Post#1 » by celticsfanforlife » Sat Dec 20, 2008 4:58 am

From Rotoworld.com:

ESPN is reporting that coach Don Nelson told rookie Anthony Randolph to talk to his agent about seeking a trade out of Golden State, a report that Randolph has responded to with "no comment."

This is their commentary:

"Nellie has apparently already given up on the rookie, which is just another sign that the Warriors are imploding. Chris Mullin has almost no power these days and Pete D’Alessandro is gone, so Nellie pretty much has free reign. "

I don't know how we'd able to pick him up, but from the games I've seen of Randolph, it looks like he could be quite the player in this league. He's a rookie who needs a lot of PT, but he might be worth a look, even if its just to use him as an asset for a bigger trade.

Real shame how things in GS have turned out too. Maybe they're scared of success? Seems like the franchise was going in the right direction then just spotaneously combusted.

I know he's a former C, but a lot of the things he does make zero sense to me. What's with him alienating players, and just giving up on them? Like I said in another thread he gave up on Marcus Williams before the season even began after Mullin traded for him. He gave up on POB, without giving him hardly any playing time. He's had Wright jerked back and forth the last couple of years, after they traded J-Rich for him. Belinelli, who looked like a star in summer league his rookie year, doesn't know how much he'll play from night to night.(Scored a career high tonight, though.) On the other hand, They've got D-league and second round players who somehow seem to break through for him like Morrow this year, and Azubuike & Barnes before him.

Do you think they'd take Big Baby for him? :)

I agree.

I think he just can't be coaching a rebuilding team. He doesn't want to give the younger players with the upside any PT when they need it. So he's playing these players who are undrafted, but are just working extra hard. I think some sort of change is needed over there. They need some sort of consistency and Nellie isn't giving them that.

Wow, Randolph has the most potential of anyone in the last draft. Its a shame that the GSW's are imploding, they looked like they were heading in the right direction.

Sounds like it's time for the owner to tell Nellie to find a new job.

Don Nelson has lost his mind. I'd offer them Big Baby and a 2nd rounder and see if they bite.

Randolph is oozing with that P word. No not piss, potential. If Bosh continues his boo hooing in Toronto maybe the W's and Raptors can work on a deal with the main ingredients being Wright/Randolph for Bosh. Seeing as how Colangelo is allergic to defense I'd expect Crawford to also be a part of any deal.

Wow! That man is just cold blooded when it comes to young players.

Package some garbage and a future first for him.

Maybe we might luck out.

Maybe this is linked to the Maggette signing? There's a rumor that Mullin wanted to offer B-Diddy a 39 million dollar deal, but it was called off at Nellie's request. The result is that they overpaid for Maggette, and end up with a rookie with loads of potential who can't get any playing time.

Nelson's announcement came on a day ESPN reported that he had confronted 19-year-old rookie Anthony Randolph and told him, "You should start having your agent look into trades because this isn't working out."

After the game, Nelson admitted to speaking with Randolph about his agent, but not to suggest Randolph ought to relocate. Rather, to work on things to improve his game.

"I do want to talk to his agent. I did say his agent, and I need to sit down and talk. (Randolph's) got to make adjustments," said Nelson, calling the report untrue. "I talked to (Randolph) about sitting down with his agent because he's got to work at practice, do some things to get better."

Even if its true Warriors wont trade a young big with huge potential just for nellie whose gonna get fired soon if he continues to tank on purpose just to retire early with that 2 year 16 million extension. He's already giving control over defensive responsibilities to his assistant coaches so it's not too long before nellies gone for good

Good, if Nellie is leaving, let's fleece him before he's gone.

He likes wing players under 6'7" and three point shooting big men to play Nellie ball.

Let's offer JR and Scal to take Randolph off his hands, and let's do it quick before he gets fired.
