Should we trade Big Baby?
He's a free agent after this season and I have a feeling he thinks he's worth more then he actually is. Plus I think Powe is more valuable to our team then he is, especially if we bring in Mutumbo.

Yes, yes and yes. Assuming of course, we have Mutumbo, Mourning or PJ waiting to sign to back up the center position. Glenn does well on defense most of the time but I feel like he just doesn't get it and he's a me first player. Overall, there's no way he gets an extension so we might as well try to move him for a back up SF. The player I really want is Travis Outlaw from Portland. Scal, Giddens, Baby and a 2nd might get it done. Either way, when the time is right, I'm ready for Baby to move on.

Big Baby should only be traded if there is a bigger baby available to replace him.

Re: Should we trade Big Baby?
For what?
The answer is no because he carries no value. I understand he is having a touch stretch right now with the crying, not being able to get his shot going, the moving picks, etc., but he is still a skilled player even if he doesnt fit the mold of a prototypical NBA guy.
Is he helping us win games right now? No. But he could still turn things around enough to help the team in the future or if not, maybe at least do well enough to build some value.
These types of hypotheticals never make too much sense to me, considering everyone overvalues their own players, and no one here likes Baby right now, why do you think another team would give up assets for him?

Re: Should we trade Big Baby?
To no great surprise people around here seem awful willing to throw a young guy under the bus because he isn't wowing us right off the bat. I really don't get the whole selfish perception some people have of him either, he spends most of his time hustling after rebounds and setting picks, I'm not going to bother looking up his attempts per game (Ok, I had to look it up, 3.5 in 16 min) but I know they've got to be minimal. But really what it comes down to is he's a rotation player on this ridiculously good team, you really want to be making changes? Not everyone can be an all-star, and Baby never will IMO, but he could develop into a decent role-player.

Yeah, but not just because he sucks at basketball, I dislike clowns like him and delonte west.
I remain in the minority in that case.

It will probably come down to us wanting to open up 2 roster spots. If We can trade Davis and someone to clear space then we do it so we dont have to out and out cut anyone.

Hey that's pretty good. I never thought of that one. I'm not sure if Portland would do it though.

Portland's already got 3 PFs (Aldridge, Frye, Diogu), 2 SGs (Roy, Fernandez), and 3 SFs (Batum, Webster, Outlaw). I seriously doubt they'd trade Outlaw for crap. And the 2nd round pick would be worthless to them, considering Paul Allen buys 1st round picks just for fun.

Portland isn't going to trade Outlaw for that package. Try posting that on their board. A guy Id like to target is Hakim Warrick. It helps that Wallace is their GM and he makes stupid deals. Trade for Warrick and sign Mutumbo. Do it.

Re: Should we trade Big Baby?
I couldn't answer the question and vote because you didn't offer who or what we would trade him for. We are a championship team, so you don't want to make too many changes but a tweak here or there is AOK.
I like Baby, I think he hustles and does a reasonable job playing the backup Center position. I do think he gets too excited sometimes though. It seems to me that if he would relax just a little, he
could play a lot better.
The way I see it, BBD is clearly out of his natural position playing Center and long term needs to play the PF spot instead. I think we need a veteran back-up Center who has the height to stay with some of the bigger teams in the NBA playoffs.
I am not sure how BBD would develop at PF, but he is young, he really works hard, is cheap, and I am willing to give him a shot. I like Powe better at PF than BBD, but if we add a true back-up 6'10" or taller Center, I am O.K. with BBD and Powe duking it out for 2nd and 3rd string PF.
I like Baby's hustle and his willingness to do whatever it takes. I guess this means I would rather part with Scal and Sam before BBD.

What about Nocioni from the Bulls? Unlike portland...we're not really set w/ our big men lol. Of course this maybe dumb asking this after a pretty big loss from you guys, but we have 0 interior defense right now, atleast w/ GD we'd get some back.

Hakim Warrick would be a nice pick up for BBD and Giddens. We lose some bulk - and maybe a ton of talent in Giddens (who knows really) but Warrick could defend the big 3s I think..

Yes, If we get Mt. Mutumbo. BBD's only value for us is in his ability to keep the really heavy guys out of the paint. He is stronger and heavier then Powe so he's much better at bodying up. His defense outside of being able to body up is pretty bad (he's always fouling), and he left his offensive game back in college. The truth is that BBD simply isn't very good.
Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...

Re: Should we trade Big Baby?
Bib Baby cannot have much market value now, so there is nto point to trade him unless we get a diustant future no, 2 pcik and need a roster spot to open. Aside from position defense his game has regressed, and historically that is a clear sign that a guy is not going to make it. See Frye, Channing and Sweetney, Mike and Banks, Marcus for recent examples, and those guys all started out far more productively than Baby ever was.
We will probably let him walk in the of-season. Best case scenario for the Cs: Baby signs a two year deal in Europe and really develops his game there. The Cs still own his rights and can bring him back or trade him in 2011 if he develops. If he doesn't develop, no big deal.
Here is another point to consider: maybe we should just cut POB to open a roster spot. If he cannot convince Doc he can outplay Big Baby the way Big Baby is playing, he must make Mark Blount look like Hakeem Olajuwon. Maybe give him a mercy f#ck game or two in the rotation to see if he can do anything, then cut him loose.

Re: Should we trade Big Baby?
I agree with POB being a potential cut. I guess maybe not giving a 3rd year wasn't such a mistake after all! (I thought it might be at the time.)
Acutally that really makes POB a more plausible cut - having a 2 yr contract means he's supposed to be a contributor, not necessarily a long term project...and if he's not contributing, maybe the roster spot could be better used.

Re: Should we trade Big Baby?
Is Big Baby bigger than last year? He seems to have lost a little of his quickness which is what made him effective. Can anyone find a couple of similar pictures a year apart to compare?
