Question for Boston people regarding bars around td garden..

Post#1 » by KnicksManiac » Sat Dec 20, 2008 5:11 pm

Hi guys-

My friends and I (18 of us in total) are coming into Boston tomorrow afternoon for the game. 13 out of 18 live in the Boston area (suburbs) and 5 of us are coming from New York. We range in age from 19-21. Can anyone here recommend a good place to drink cheap beer around the garden before the game tomorrow? Keep in mind, it is a big group and not all of us are 21 yet. Can someone here please help out? I'm kind of organizing this whole event but I have no idea where to go before the game. Thanks.

If you're not all 21, you can't drink together. So, I dunno. Maybe go to a liquor store and go to a hotel room?

As a 22 year old I've found that the bars around TD banknorth are plagued with long lines and crowdedness after any game. Not exactly my kinda atmosphere unless it's a huge playoff win or something, but if that's your thing more power to ya.

EDIT: I thought you said after, not before. Yeah as with that make sure you get there a few hours before gametime and you should be alright. As for you underage friends... :dontknow:

Well, cheap is relative and there are tons of places around the garden. I would assume your Boston Suburb friends would know the area but I'll give you my two favorite places right across the street.

Number One: The Best Sports Bar( get address online)

number Two: The Fours (get address online)

If you're looking for dirt cheap share a bottle of jack before you go to the bar, this way everyone has a few under thier belt before hand. You could save a few bucks at a number of dive bars which I love within walking distance of these places, but coming from NYC, make it an experience, these are great bars go early, as in if the game starts at 7:30, go around 4-5.

Enjoy the game.

My personal favorite is Boston Beer Works. Nice big burgers, tall beers, sports bar atmosphere... my usual before and after a celtics game.

Yeah, the Beer Works is good. The Harp is alright too. I dig D.J.'s as well.
