Everybody keeps pointing to Prince and Battier, but what are the odds we can actually get them in a trade?? I'm not a big fan of Gerald Wallace, so I'd rather pass on him... The one guy that can be had on the cheap right now and brings everything we lack in terms of toughness, defense and shooting is Andres Nocioni... Realistic, perfect fit at the SF spot...

Fixing Kobes pinky is not going to help.. We need to fix the team composition..

Bynum and Odom need to be traded .. Mengba and Josh Powell would do a better job than these guys on offense and defense..

Trade Bynum or Odem for G Wallace will help us a lot overcome zone defense and improve defensively.....

damn, im glad i didnt have to sit and watch through this junk...

we're still technically the same 27-13 team + gasol

maybe its time to dial it in and start conserving energy for the playoffs, get kobe to fix his pinky and allow him to properly rest his knees...

Trading Bynum would be ridiculous. Bynum is not the problem. His role and his teammates are the problems.

a big problem in 3 of the 4 players u listed is that they are in the "me" point of their careers, rather than the "we". ariza and odom are both on the last yr of their deals and looking to cash in. lamar, its the last big contract of his career. ariza, its the first. farmar is almost at new contract time, and he's also at the time when players want to have their career start to take off. you throw in two young players who just got new deals that are trying to establish themselves (sasha, bynum), and you have a mixture conducive to selfish play. it hasn't manifested itself offensively, but defensively, no one really has each others' back.

when u look at past championship teams, they are full of veteran role players that know what is expected of them that play within themselves. they also have young players that are still mostly interested in just being in the league, not in living up to a new contract, earning a new contract, or taking a role away from a vet.

Yes. Which is exactly why we need to get rid of Ariza, Farmar, and Odom. I don't believe that they're championship players anyways and they will soon need to be resigned. Might as well get rid of them for some decent pieces who are proven.

I am not in love with Ariza like others. I think Ariza is part of the problems. I think his 3pt shooting, gambling for steals, inability to guard man to man, chasing after every offensive rebound is leading some of the problems we have now. Not to mention we won't be able to resign him anyways as we are over the luxury tax without resigning Ariza, Odom, or Farmar.

Much of what needs to be done will be found out on Thursday. It's a test to see where we are. To be sure we'll see the Ariza-Gasol-Bynum look and decide if it's feasible or not feasible. If Odom plays poorly I can certainly see Shawn Marion becoming a Laker soon with Ariza and Farmar being packaged in accordance following that.

Something to the effect of a cheap trade to swing Joe Smith and the addition of Shawn Marion (pretty much takes just Lamar plus cheaper contracts) would very likely turn around the team's fortunes in a big way.

As you've said many times Miles I still see Marion as a great fit at the SF position next to Kobe. He can't penetrate like you'd like but we may eventually see something completely new with a Marbury coming in.
