Its weird b/c from a rockets standpoint, we think you are getting all the calls.

Just for curiosity's sake, I thought I would check the defensive intangibles of Battier and Artest of the Rockets, to compare them with Anderson.

Battier has career averages of 1.1 TO, 1.2 stl, and 1.0 blk per game, for a combined blocks + steals to turnover ratio of 2.2 to 1.1, or 2-1.

Artest has career averages of 2.3 TO, 2.1 Stl, 0.7 blk, for a combined blocks + steals to turnover ratio of 3.0 to 2.3, or over 1-1.

Mr. Anderson and the backups are showing great heart halfway through the 4th, their +/- numbers are now almost as bad as the starters! (in fewer minutes!)

Phew... it's really a huge loss for the Nets...I don't understand why Harris looks so bad in this game.

man im starting to think the izod center is somehow haunted, how can it be we play so bad to our own people but much better to people in other cities??? is it that frank suddenly becomes more intelligent when playing away from home??

Not to give them a pass for this game, cause I won't, from them not showing uo 1-15, to Opie's terrible coaching, but in general it honestly has got to be pretty hard to get pumped up to play in front of literally 8 to 11 thousand fans in a not even half full stadium. Especially when easily three quarters of the fans seem scared to open their mouths and cheer as if they are worried about being embarrassed. :-?

I fail to see your point.
Anderson is not considered to be a good defender and both the guys you mentioned are literally considered among the top defensive players in the league, period.

Aren't the stats you listed by definition tangible? I thought intangibles were more like drawing offensive fouls, forcing miss shots, deflecting passes, boxing out your opponent, and communicating? You know, stuff that don't show up on the stat sheet?

I don't think anyone should be surprised by the loss. I thought it would be a blowout but didn't think the Nets would be done in by the end of the 1st quarter. Just don't match up well with the Rockets. Vince struggles vs Rockets & Artest has had a history of playing well against him. T-Mac can rest on defense. Rockets can funnel a player like Devin into big bodies in the post. Lopez will struggle against Yao. Also consider Nets best bench player (Hayes) is out & Simmons for all his deficiencies does have 3pt threat range and in a game of inches he can force the defender to hold his position 1/2 foot to the perimeter or stay 1/2 second more to Simmons in the corners to help out iso offense, Hassell doesn't hold that threat.

Vince had a bunch of good looks near or at the paint and they didn't go in & then his outside jumper was off but I can't complain too much about his shot selection just the lack of finish. More and more teams are packing the paint & daring Devin to hit the pull up mid-range jumpers or for perimeter guys to score. I believe in these Nets shooters but it starts with Yi and his shot has gone south.

At least CDR & Najera got some burn. Vince gets burned on pick & rolls and Devin gets burned on isolation - can't ask too much from your two offensive horses but they have to tighten that up. Back-to-Back subpar games from the 'dynamic duo'. They blew their ___ against Mavericks it seems. Certain loss when both guys don't do well. Yi/Anderson are still the X-Factors to me. These two & Hayes change the fortunes of the Nets...they do well balance created & wins..they don't & it takes big nights from Vince/Devin for wins.

I don't know what's worse...return of VCs headband or T-Mac's metro beard (George Michael called ....).

I said after the bad loss at the Raptors that the Nets could easily go into an 8 game losing streak. I called the only possible wins as Dallas (certain) & Indiana (not so much) - I was wrong that they actually beat the Raptors at the ACC but I'm not surprised by the rest of the w/l. I do think they have a good chance to go on a 3-4 game winning streak. I think they match up better vs Chicago then they do Indiana actually but if they win vs Indy I can see the W Charlotte back-to-back & Chicago too.

Are you saying that Battier and Artest don't bring good intangibles? I think their intangibles result in tangible statistical production. If supposed, so-called, and mysteriously measured intangibles of players like Anderson made him a good defender, wouldn't it be reflected in his defensive statistics? The way Battier and Artest manifest their intangibles with production?

Well, if you're saying that Anderson isn't a good defender, I agree with you.

i kinda understand why we are terrible, at home, the players mite, put themselves under pressure, fearing that fans will boo them if they do wrong, were on the road there is no pressure, so home games are in a way, working aganist us, for football fans, the Giants were a terrible home team and a gret road team, and i think it same thing, its all in the mind, its not like you become good at basketball team when you are away from your home...

The only bright spot was K.Dooling, oh well at least he shot well.
Yi was garbage, Anderson was worse. VC/Harris seemed not interested in this game ...
My only problem with Frank is he should have kept B.Lopez in to match up against Yao, they both are traditional centers, Lopez could have learnt a bit more.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
