IMO this stuff is just overblown to continue stating the obvious.
We suck whether at home or not.
How many games were we in the lead by 10+ this year to end up losing by 10+? How many games did we go into half time with a lead or tie only to lose the game by 10+?
What is Frank saying to this team at half time? or what is Frank not telling them?

Re: we really suck at home
It's growing pains of having a young team that we can't close out teams very often. I honestly have no idea why we do a better job of it on the road than at home. Maybe because there are like 30 fans at home games and there are plenty more on the road (even if everyone on the road is rooting against us lol).
But this is expected of us. If we were a mature team, I'd be all pissy and calling for Frank's head (more than I do now), but we're young. I get annoyed when we blow games like we did last night, but I'm not surprised and for some reason it doesn't totally bother me right now. I projected us to win 18 more games this season, if we hit that, I'm happy so I really am not focused on blowing these leads. Ask me again next season and I may have a different answer though.

its because their is no such thing as home court advantage for the nets. theirs only like 300 people in the arena and most of them are only their because they support the opponent. at least when theyre on the road it feels like an actual nba game with all the fans cheering and yelling it gets the nets pumped. my seats are in the upper level and sometimes i hear the players sneezing its so quiet in that place. if the nets make the playoffs they are better off as a 5 or lower seed they might actually win a series.

Speaking of home games, anyone going on Saturday? I'm flying to Jersey tomorrow night and going to the game on Saturday. Sitting in the 100's somewhere.

That's awesome.
I'm wearing my Yi jersey shirt I had made.
However, my EFFIN flight just got cancelled (like 5 minutes ago) so now I'm trying to figure out how I can get there in time cause I still have to work tomorrow. I'm so pissed but I'm not missing the only game I'll probably be at this season.

This question will continue to linger in our minds for maybe the duration of this '08-'09 season.
5-10 at home and 8-4 on the road?

Re: we really suck at home
Jack Armstrong (Raptors colour guy) said Nets lose 5-6 games a year due to lack of crowd. That might be hyperbole or not but I do think a crowd can help their home team. People can argue these guys are millionaires and should play their heart out for the whole game but it's human nature to have let down's & even have outside situations (personal life, etc) affect you but a supportive crowd can energize you even if for one or two plays & that might be the difference in a game.
You even see it in your pick up games. Everyone's fooling around...the minute other players want next and a crowd gathers & people start talking the intensity of the game instantly goes up or a bunch of girls/guys (however you swing) come by the court to watch then all of sudden everyone starts playing a bit harder...now multiply that a few hundred times. All it takes is a few plays sometimes to keep momentum or to break the other teams momentum & I for one believe that at least a few games a year the Nets do lose just for having to generate all the intensity/energy themselves - sure unfair to the diehard fans that do show up but again it's human nature.
then again S.I.C is right that this team is what it is...not very good BUT as of now much better than most thought. I'm not complaining...ask me again at All-Star break

The Nets have the 3rd best road record in the league behind Boston and Orlando.

Re: we really suck at home
Look guys it has nothing to do with lack of fan support or the suckiness of the Izod Center (and boy does it suck).
The team actually isnt that bad when it comes to getting fan support we're much better than the attendance basement team's like Indiana,Memphis or Charlote (where we won).
Its just bad luck at home and a mix of stuff like that obvious D-whistle star treatment the Miami cHeat got here and the abuse Lopez has to endure from the ref's because of the fact that he's a young rookie.
But hey Im far from complaining if you were to tell me about a 0.500 record back in the off-season I would never believe you.

Re: we really suck at home
you play basketball for a living, your a professional and when putting a Nets uni on, whether you've been here a year or 5...You know the crowd at the Meadowlands has never been a plus or an aspect you look forward to when taking the floor at home in NJ...but come on, thats the last excuse this team is going to take...and I really dont feel its all that feasible in this team's situation...(you want to talk about about big games or playoff games, ect...and how the home crowd can give a team a lift..thats fine...but any newcomer, by now, doesnt expect any major crowd at the Izod Center and should be over the small attendance in the arena...)
We have to win at home...the Nets need to be able to play comfortable at home and we're not...its a fact...we look different at home vs. on the road...its definitely become a mental thing and thats as bad as it gets...usually as the home team you play with more confidence than you do on the road due to a comfort zone...that doesnt exist and we need to string a few in row together to make any sort of turnaround as far as becoming a above .500 team...
and one last thing...the "We suck"...I dunno...I really dont get that and anyone who agrees with that overall statement about the Nets...obviously this team is what it is...the Nets have their limitations and weaknesses...they have some young players and maybe a coach who has his limits (but I've been pretty "ok" w. Frank lately)...this team needs to play better team defense, especially on the perimeter...close teams out while avoiding going through any serious shooting droughts...we're not good enough on the defensive end to make up for sudden drops in FG% during any given quarter in any given game.....

3 of our next 4 games are at home - against Sacramento, Memphis and Oklahoma City.
I swear Nets, this is not the right time to suck at the Izod Center.

We've won 3 straight (or is it 4?) home games - thanks to relatively easy opponents in Grizzlies, Kings, and Thunder.
I don't wanna sound like a broken record but I've noticed that 6 of our 12 home losses were inflicted by teams that are currently in the bottom 6 of the standings in the East - Bulls, Raptors, Knicks, Bobcats, Pacers, and Wizards. If we won all of these games, our overall standing would've been 25-13 and more and more people would talk about our ongoing cinderella run.
Portland and Boston are the next 2 opponents at Izod. Let's see if the Nets are for real at least as far as home games are concerned.
