Is someone can explain to me why.......

Post#1 » by Doms92 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 12:29 pm

......the Falcons had clinched a playoff berth??

If the Falcons will lose against the Rams, we will be at 10-6. So the same record for Dallas (if they win), Tampa (if they win), Chicago and Saint Louis (if they win).

Concerning the tiebreaker "conference record", Comboys and Bucs will have a better record than our.

So, I really can't understand why we are in playoff? Maybe the common game record????

Thanks in adavance for yours answers

PS : Sorry for my poor english, but I'm a french fan (from Paris) of all Atlanta's Team since my journey during the Olympics in 1996

I'm not 100 percent sure but this is probably why.

Conf. record only comes into play when there are two teams competing for the wildcard assuming that they didn't play. Chicago didn't play Dallas and went 0-2 vs the Falcons and TB. They would lose in any tie breaker scenario.

That now makes it between Dallas,Atlanta, and TB. If ATL loses and TB and Dallas win-then they would go by the combined wins losses that those 3 teams played each other in. Dallas would get the highest seed because they went 1-0 vs TB and ATL would get the last wildcard because they went 1-1 vs TB while TB went 0-1 vs Dallas and 1-1 vs ATL.
