Joe Smith wants to come back

Post#1 » by gocavs23 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 2:15 am

From the wiretap:

Joe's Quote:

"I would have interest in the Cavs, I'm not sure they would be interested in me," Smith said. "They would be an option."

The Cavaliers cannot trade for Smith under the NBA's rules but could sign him should the Thunder opt to buy him out.

Yes Joe, we want you back. OKC, please buy him out. Sorry Jawad, we need Joe for some more pick and pop offense when Z is out. Here's to praying this happens.

I would take him back, no doubt. He would be a great addition to our bench.

they need to free a roster spot because they just signed Kristc, who will be on their roster in 7 days. Joe could take a buyout for whatever the minimum possible is (can he take nothing in a buyout?) and make his money back signing a contract for us.

If Joe does come back he will get minutes. Love his game. Even now. Great role player.

Why did he leave in the first place?? Sorry, i haven't been following the Cavs for very long.

he didnt leave, he was part of the 3 team trade that got us Mo Williams. i want him back so much, i know it would take away from darnell and J.J.'s minutes but having him there would allow us to have even more offense. and he can defently help darnell and J.J.. those 2 could really beneift from being around Ben and Joe

I agree. Joe is a player that JJ can see being more his style while Darnell has definately taken on learning a lot from Ben.

I would also like to get Joe back because it gives the Cavs frontline that much more length. Not to mention his ability to hit that 12-15 ft jump shot makes him more valuable for the cavs.

i want joe back also he can still play some ball if his knees hold up and i like the idea of him and ben molding jj and darnell for the future. he would sure up our frontline even more and wouldnt mess with chemistry like i think a big trade would since he is familar with our system. if its not broke why fix it right?

Would love to have Joe back as well. Hopefully he doesn't end up traded though instead. If this were to happen, I'd be all for keeping Wally's contract and riding this team out as it is now. For the sake of a roster spot, if Joe was to come back. Who do you let go- Jawad Williams or Lorenzen Wright?

Honestly I would consider letting Lorenzen go. Jawad Williams actually has looked decent whenever he has gotten any kind of opportunity whatsoever. He is a guy the Cavs should hold onto and develop. It reminds me of Azubuike when he looked solid in every shot he got and the Cavs still released him..

Lorenzen seems to be loved by his teammates though so I don't know, might mess up the locker room. But man how sweet would it be to have JOE SMITH back.

He was awesome here. Would fit perfectly on this squad.
