Bill Cowher

There are very few times that a team can go out and get a guy who is that good to run your program. Mangini iss OK--but Cowher is an elite coach and I believe that if we fail to make the playoffs that we should offer Bill 9mm a year and give him full authority on all decisions. We need a different mind set on D that we havent seen in years and years. The only time we had devastating D was 20 years ago. I hope that this name becomes popular and that Woody gets it. If we stick with what we have--things will be OK--but I really don't see much more than that. Our defense is going to be the same--no pressure on the QBa and we put all of our money on the offensive line--after Farve retires we have second rate talent at QB. We may need to bring in a QB--I would bring in Vick in one second on the cheap and let Bill do his thing with the defense.

I'd love to have Cowher as coach, he'd be that great in your face coach that our team needs and hopefully can help our D, or maybe someone like Schottenheimer here.

Maybe one day he will be, but not now, not here. The offense is predictable and has no ingenuity. The defense is now pathetic. How many games in a row are you going to play your cornerbacks 20 yards off the LOS? How many 400 yard passing yard games are going to give up? (Scroll down for the answer.) Brett Farve - after taking $12 million from us this year - will retire . . . . . . only to unretire, again, in August to sign with the Buffalo Bills, for the minimum, and lead them to the Super Bowl in 2010.

I do think Mangini was a decent coach and I still do. But the bottom line is Cowher is an institution and whn they become available--you do what it takes to get him. The current GM may stay GM in title--but if Cowher is employed--he will make 90-95% of decisions with 100% control. Almost any other move could be considered lateral --the fact that BC is not taking the Cleveland job and willing to talk to the Jets is the best thing any Jet fan can hope for. Now we have to pay whatever cost it takes and say here are the keys--get it done your way.

No time or place for the interview has been set, but the official says the Jets would be willing to do "whatever is necessary" to land Cowher if he is truly interested in taking the job.

Initially, ESPN.com's John Clayton reported Cowher told the Jets he was not interested because he wanted his own personnel director. The Jets official's response indicates the team is willing to let Cowher replace current general manager Mike Tannenbaum with his own candidate.

A Jets source also said Tannenbaum says he's willing to adjust his position to accommodate Cowher.

Cowher has told friends the Jets job interested him for several reasons. First, Cowher would love to coach in the New York market. Second, two of his daughters are either going to school or working in the New York-New Jersey area.

Well I certainly wouldnt be mad if we got Cowher, you cant argue against the star power and passion he would bring to the Jets. I just wish we could get that fiery defensive coordinator that can bring the Steelers type defense to our 3-4.
