Farmar out for awhile

Two L.A. based doctors have recommended that Laker guard Jordan Farmar undergo surgery on his injured left knee which could see him on the sidelines for up to eight weeks, the L.A. Times are reporting.

If Farmar goes under the knife, the Lakers may sign another player to relieve Derek Fisher at point guard.

"We're really looking at someone that can help Fish manage his time," Jackson said. "The number of quick, small guards in the league right now has increased significantly, so we'll probably look at someone's quickness and speed, not size."
