Why do you want to make Damon a full-time DH? I understand giving him some time there just to keep his legs fresh but he is a very good LFer.
About Ankiel, the Cardinals wanted to start at Kennedy. That's too much for a one year rental. -Jitpal
I dont nec. want to make him the full time DH... use him in the OF too.
I just believe trading Nady would be a mistake, and Swisher can be a realllllly good addition. A fully rotational outfield would be fine with me.
Honestly you can make cases for every single guy we have. They all add something different or have special circumstances. It's tough to say who is better to trade, and obviously a big concern will be what the team will get back.
Damon - Leads off, great clubhouse guy, ambassador to free agents, plus defense in LF, can play CF in a pinch, clutch, partial no trade, free agent at the end of the year.
Matsui - The only left handed power bat, japanese revenue, consummate professional, clutch, full no trade, free agent at the end of the year.
Nady - Tons of intangibles, cheap, free agent at the end of the year, most easily moveable, traded a hefty sum for him.
Swisher - Can play a few positions, an OBP machine, new player, switch hitter, coming off a bad year.
Which do you go for? To me I think the guy is Nady but it would be a pretty good idea to create a new thread with a poll and see what the consensus is. -Jitpal
Edit: Forgot to add that if Damon, Matsui or Swisher are traded with the Yankees taking on no more than 25% of the salary, it would probably clear up enough room for Pettitte in the budget. -Jitpal
