Official Start Gerald Green Thread

Post#1 » by GREEN8 » Sat Dec 27, 2008 6:42 am

Let's not kid ourselves, Gerald is an offensive firecracker waiting to be lit. I hope Rick gets the message that I and some Mavs fans want to see Gerald play. Enough with this "were developing core hard-playing, young players" crap. Gerald's the hardest worker in practice and Carlisle knows it. I want to see Gerald Green play 25+ each game for this shoddy Mavericks team. WE WANT GERALD!...WE WANT GERALD!...WE WANT GERALD!...WE WANT GERALD!...

Gerald with 25+ mpg, 15 ppg, 9 rpgs, 1.5 apg, 1 spg

WANT D?

Carlisle on the Mavericks' lack of energy: "We didn't play well. We struggled. I'm not going to make excuses about the travel. Everybody gets put in this position at some point. You got to be able to come out and play. Give Utah credit. They're undermanned and they had some guys really step up." ... If the Mavericks wanted to take something positive from the game, it was Josh Howard's second half. He hit five of six shots and had 13 points. However, he did not have a rebound or an assist for the game.

I agree with you for some part.
I also want to see Gerald more rqather than George.
i want him to play about 10 Minutes per game and see hat he does, since he deserves a chance.
He played OK at the beginning of the Season i thought there wasnt a reason to bench him. Didnt he play good D against T-Mac?

Green should be playing George's minutes. He is young and athletic and I believe with some playing time with Kidd on the floor will only get better each game. My conspiracy theory would be that the Mavs don't want to develop Green this year and increase his value to the point they couldn't resign him. Green has crazy athletic skills so if my conspiracy theory is not correct then I would have to think he is uncoachable or has a low b-ball IQ.

And...don't be hatin' Ol Green8, Its fun to see someone have so much enthusiasm for his favorite player. I imagine I might be putting out some Barea needs some playing time posts if he hadn't had his chance to prove himself this year.

Nah, Green said he's fine that he's not playing:
"I’m still taking everything in, how we have been winning, the ways we’ve been losing, still doing everything, still reading scouting reports, things like that to keep me informed even though I’m not playing," Green said. "It’s not easy, everybody wants to play. What I have to do is continue to work hard and believe and have confidence in myself and to keep on asking questions if I don’t understand something or if I need help."
because he's always been a team player. You see he's always the first to cheer on his team or give high fives. He's very coachable, Rick had this to say about him,
"He’s working as hard or harder as he has all year. I just made it clear to him that we’re charting his daily progress regardless of what happens in games or whether he even gets in games

There's nothing wrong with rooting for a guy to get playing time, but Green8 has never made a post about anything other than Gerald. He doesn't seem to care one bit about the Mavs. I wouldn't mind seeing a trade either so he'll take his whining to some other board.

Personally, I saw this post go for a long time with no cosign. The I saw it was replied to and I was like...damn! who decided not to ignore him? Then I found out he responded to his own post.

Not true, I like Bass, Dirk, Howard, Singleton, and Kidd. Wright is just awful. Never been a fan of Terry, Diop, or Barea. George is a great defender but gives you guys nothing offensively. I just think the Mavs are doing a bad job in managing Green. In the beginning of the season, mainly mid-November they were doing such a great job with him but now it seems like Mavs fans don't care about Green as the coaches do. Kid needs to play learn from him mistakes and move on.

I'm kind of sick of the spam too. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Gerald, but this clown has go to stop.

Green is the worst defender on this team next to dirk
but the thing is dirk can an offensive mismatch on a nightly basis and he can get u
20+ppg and 9rbg

Green is a ok shooter
good slasher
Amazing slasher if he gets to the rim

But a pathetic defender, he turns up his activity on really good plays but that still doesnt mean anything when u let weaker players take u off the dribble and score on u

he can become really good at some point but i dont see him getting minutes till maybe the last 20-30 games of the season my friend
fundamentals are essential and he doesnt have them

I would'nt mind seeing Green get some minutes just as long as he played some average defense in the process. The Mavs could use a real SG and he has all the tools but does he have the mind set to play some defense as hard as he plays on the offensive end?

thats the question. I have faith in RC to evaluate him and his progress. If he learns the system and plays some D he will get his minutes. d.george aint the answer anyway

His offense has never been the question. He makes rookie type mistakes, but i'm guessing he isnt getting minutes because of the way we must be playing defense in pratice.

Gerald Green, the fourth-year swingman, was back in uniform for Tuesday night’s game against Minnesota after being inactive for the past five games and six of the past seven.

He last logged double-digit minutes (13) on Nov. 29 at Sacramento, a span of 16 games that seems an eternity ago. He didn’t get in the game, but being in uniform beats wearing a sport coat any day.

"It always feels good," Green said of being back in uniform. "I’m just basically here to do whatever needs to be done and it doesn’t matter if I have to be inactive or not."

If there is any player in the NBA, with a less selfish heart, please point him out. Gerald is such a great guy. This is how every NBA player should be like.

Um, how about Jerry Stackhouse, Singleton, Bass, Wright, Barea, George, Williams, Diop....and that's just on our team.

Shall I go to the next team without a Telfair type scrub and point them out too? Hell, even Antoine Walker changed his tune after realizing he is a scrub.
