Andre Smith, OT Alabama
Eugene Monroe, OT Virginia
Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
MIchael Oher(hmm), OT, Ole Miss

It's a good group but I don't know if I would invest another pick on our Oline until we figure out what we have in Chris Williams. I wouldn't mind taking a C/RT with our 2nd round pick though.

This team has so many holes it's tough to decide. WR is a must but I don't see Angelo taking one again higher than the 3rd round. Although I could see him take one in the second round if they trade out of the first round.

They also need OL and a Safety. I honestly think the Bears will go Safety in the first round. Who is available? I haven't taken a look yet if there is anyone worth picking.

Taylor Mays, S, USC
William Moore, S, Missouri

Personally, I doubt we go safety after the **** we said about Sletz(oh he's a starter) and what we have in Manning(eh), Mcgowan(ehhhhhhh), and Payne(decent). While I doubt our management drafts offensively, they don't think they like admitting mistakes (Trading away Chris Harris).

I'm sticking with my Rey Maualuga (ILB, USC) pick with Urlacher moving to the outside even if it means moving up. I know it's not the biggest need. I don't care.

I like that OLB, Aaron Curry, from Wake but he's probably going to be gone when we pick. I also would like to bring in Vontae Davis as a "shut-down" corner (we don't have one of those) and see if we can't move one of Tillman or Vasher to safety. Another O-Lineman would be nice as our guys are just flat out too old. I don't want to wait to see what we got in Williams. We have to assume he'll be playing next year either at tackle or guard.

The Bears biggest need is WR(a very bust prone position) but I'd hate to spend a 1st round pick on Harvin or Maclin. I don't see either outproducing Hester next year and the 2010 draft could possibly have Benn,Crabtree, and Bryant in it. I'd see what Arizona wanted for Boldin first.

My 1st choice would probably be Duke Robinson from OU. He will probably go late 1st round(like Alan Faneca) because he's not a LT, but he plays his position as well as any one else in the draft. I think the biggest reason Carolina has improved their run game so much this year is because they didn't shy away from taking players like Otah and Kalil on the 1st day.

Let's face it....this team has enough needs that we should be going for BPA regardless of position.

OK, except RB.

As far as the first round goes the only offensive pick I see us making would be an o-lineman; most likely we're going to go defense. There could be a case made to go any position on defense with this pick as well. There aren't any surefire first round WR's to take (I don't see us taking Maclin or Harvin) and Crab either won't enter the draft or will be gone and we don't need a RB this early. Taking Tebow or another QB in the first round most likely isn't going to happen either unless they're convinced Orton isn't our longterm answer. We just have too many holes to fill to take a flier on a QB or one of these two WR's who could very easily be busts. After the Williams pick debacle this year I'm pretty sure we're going to get a surefire contributor in year 1 with this pick. We need a WR in the worst way so hopefully we can get Housh or some other FA WR combined with using another 1st day pick on a WR (not with our first overall pick unless we can somehow get Crabtree but that won't happen).

I agree but we know they wont take a wideout in the first it would be just too much pressure on him as a rookie to perform. Love basically said Orton is our QB so I expect them to grab maybe another lineman or a pass rusher in the 1st and then grab skill positions.

Id say lets go reciever round 1 or 2 at latest, we need them bad.. Imagine a stud along with Olson and Hester.

Next, secondary

Anyone for trading down our 1st rouder to get more picks? The Bears have big needs everywhere.

I'd say FS/CB in round #1, get a proven FA WR, and find a #2 RB somewhere. actually use him, and not wear down Forte next season. Draft depth/youth for the O-line on day 2, and for the love of the game, stop reaching 2 rounds early for guys, the Bears staff clearly isn't the smartest group at evaluating pro talent.

Really like your thinkin on the underlined part, but can we get a good FA reciever?? Totally dissagree on the bold part, Angelo is known for pickin up steals in the later rounds even if they werent projected to go there

Pass rush and WR are the two things I think the team could really use. The oline may not be elite, but I think it held up okay, and a healthy Chris Williams could very significantly upgrade it next year anyway.

WR is such a crapshoot in the draft career wise, and even the good ones often take 3 years to develop, so unless you're on a 3 year plan (which you could be) then I don't know that WR is going to help us early unless someone just looks like great great value.

I don't know if there are pass rushers who will rate out near where we pick, but that seems like a position you could get immediate impact at and fill a big need. Offensive line wouldn't be bad depending what we feel internally about Chris Williams. If internally the news is really bad going forward, then I wouldn't mind going OL.

You could also go safety or CB if you think you can get an impact player, but I don't know how likely that is that a great looking corner falls to our slot, and it's awfully high to go safety unless there's someone really, really good.

I guess overall, I'm a BPA guy more than anything, but I'd lean toward DT/DE if I could.

I don't think Rd1 is the time to address it but I think the o-line needs serious attention. We've been simply awful in 3rd/4th and short yardage situations and I think that's directly attributed to the lousy pushes we're getting from our line. IF Chris Williams is legit, that's a start but the rest of our lineman's ages going into next season will be :

Beekman - 26
Garza - 30
Kreutz - 32
St Clair - 32
Tait - 34

I don't care if it's via the draft, trade, or free agency....our o-line needs to be addressed. I think the majority of the contributors to this forum all knew this during last year's draft when we all couldn't figure out why we didn't go after some of the highly rated guards that kept slipping. Seemed like a need then and it certainly hasn't changed now.

Top three needs IMO
1. Wide Receiver
The team has one decent WR and then the rest don't deserve to play. Devin Hester would be awesome as a #3 WR, but as #1 he is miscast. But Jerry Angelo isn't taking a WR with the #1 pick.
2. Defensive End
The team was piss poor at rushing the passer with four guys and only 12.0 sacks from their three defensive ends won't cut it. I really see the Bears committing money here.
3. Quarterback
Kyle Orton is not a long term solution to the QB spot. With Grossman gone likely, the team can use a guy who in a few years can be a starter.

Round 1: Brian Orakpo Texas DE 6'3.5" 255
Round 2: Josh Freeman QB Kansas State 6'5" 238
Round 3: Louis Murphy WR Florida 6'2" 200

Not a bad first three picks in my mind

EDIT I think Angelo looks for OL in the FA period to keep the team fresh
