If he can actually find another job in the NFL. he's considered a rat around the league.

Re: OT: Jets fire coach Eric Mangini after 3 seasons
I have a in law who works in the nfl in a decent sized capacity and i asked him about mangini, becasue while theres certain things i dont like about him as a fan wtaching in tv football is a hard sport to really know 100% whast going on and whos at fault for somethings so i wanted to make sure im not wrnogly blaming mangini and his schemes..
He said manigni is a horrid x's and o's guy, talked about how he never makes adjustments,we were watching the game sunday and he said numerous times how the dolphins on offense created numerous mismatches on offnese with buble screens because they saw pace on a slot receiver while the jets offense created no mismatches and stayed in threre vanilla offense
He said as bad as he is with x's and o's thats his strength sadly and that hes so out of touch with the feel of a game and when to go for the throat and otehr things because hes so robotic ansd mechanical..
Lastly i said maybe the offense would be better if we got a Boldin i nthe offseason,he said theres n way a mangini would let that happen, claims hes against "playmakers" and hated gettign farve because the guys an egomaniac and control freak wh owants to get all the attnetion and wants people to think of him as a genius instead of creditign the actual players..
Interesting stuff..

When you got talent on the field and you have to blow teams out, you need a killer instinct, a certain confidence and Mangini with his read and react crap and his safe game plans never got it. Remember his first year how many chances he took, but this year we always played not to lose and were too afraid when going up against horrible horrible teams...
But let's not mistake our team as a surefire Super Bowl contender here. Sure, we had a lot of pro bowlers and atleast we should have made the playoffs- But personal wise this Jets team still has a lot of holes. We have no receiver who's taller than 5-11, outside of Harris we have only terrible, slow and plodding ILB, we have no real nasty pass rusher on the outside (not Pace, no BT and Gholston is still a work in progress), we have absolutely no depth on either line (which I think became a problem in recent games because Ellis, Coleman and Jenkins had to play way to many snaps over the course of the season) and on top of that our system sucked. Good riddance Sutton and good riddance Schottenheimer. Now we aren't that far away from contending, we need a stud ILB next to Harris who can cover (Brandon Spikes would be perfect), we need Gholston to come around and we need more depth. Oh and of course our secondary, I don't want to see either Ty Law or Dwight Lowery (while a solid nickel back) EVER start a game again for the Jets. Seriously, they are horrible. Now with a good draft and a few nice signings we could be fine, we got a lot of pieces in place but we have to understand that we
a) have to get more athletic players (SEC says hello)
b) that we need more depth
c) that we have to find an identity and this should be a strong defensive, running football team
Favre should retire, he has been horrible- I'm hard on him because with his star status he has to be held to certain measurements, He was goddamn awful and his game deciding mistakes have NOTHING to with coaching, no coach ever told him to throw right into defensive ends or triple coverage. We need to move on and so we did with Mangini, now we have to do the same thing with Favre. A lot of players on this team are young, other key guys like Jenkins are in their prime so there is no reason why we shouldn't be competitive and still build a true foundation for the future.

good post mo. Favre should be held accountable, but he was good enough this year to get this team into the playoffs. I will say this.. the jets were unprepared to beat 3 horrible teams. The raiders, the niners and the seahawks... Coaching in these types of games is paramount. VS NE earlier this year on the goaline.. 3 straight runs with no pass, and we get stuffed?
The raiders game.. Thomas jones is getting damn near 6 yards a carry and we are throwing the ball, instead of running the ball down their throats and demoralizing them?
Vs the niners. No blitzes? instead we sit back and let a hack QB pick us apart like he is Joe montana? no mixing up the defense?
VS the seahawks. 4 and goal opening drive and we kick a field goal from the 2 yard line? why not go for it. they had seneca wallace at QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These and many other decisions all year are on mangini.. Yea favre treated the ball like it was a hot potatoe, and played like the village idiot, but he also won a couple of games for us... that KC game and he was great vs the titans...
As you said. We need a LB who can cover TE's, I want to trash the 3-4 , jenkins will still be a monster in the 4-3 and move gholston to DE/ LB.. let him roam and rush, and be a terror..
Revis is a stud, but we need another cover corner.. end of story.. Get rid of coles and get me a receiver who is over 6'0 tall and has good hands. Coles hands are not good at all...
I liked mangini, but he was in over his head when it mattered most....

Re: OT: Jets fire coach Eric Mangini after 3 seasons
I don't like farve, i have never liked the guy so take this with a grain of salt. But the dude just looked old out there the past five games. Personally I just don't think we have the personel that fits with him, the jets have a decent running game, I was listening to the MIA broadcast of the game, and the commentators for the fins were scared every time leon washington got the ball, Jones had a good year this year, and because they got farve the jets had to change everything we could possibly do well to let this guy, that creates more turnovers than touchdowns, throw the ball (at least these year anyway) mangini shouldn't have been fired, and the fact that someone mentioned bringing in the holgram is a testament to how much Brett needs to be catered to to have success. He is a great player, but the best players do what it takes to win, and if that means handing off the ball then so be it.
On top of all of that I just wanted to state, that the love that brett gets is unreal, let Eli or any other QB throw the amount of bad passes this guy throws they will be stoned to death, F that gun slinger BS, he just wasn't that good this year. If Matt Cassel and Chad Pennington can come in and have a good year, The great Brett Farve could have done the same.

Listen.. Miami won the division with far less talent and a noodle armed QB... the pats went 11-5 with a backup QB and multiple injuries.. Farve led the jets to more TD's this year than they have had in years or maybe team history..
The INT's , yea he could have done better, but I counted 6 Int's this year where it was just pure miscommunication between he and WR's, and that was understandable, since they had little time to get aclimated to one another..
mangini was over his head in this potisiton. If Favre comes back, I won't be upset, my emotions are up and down, but if we get a coach that has a system that utilizes his strengths as well as that of our running game, I would be happy... mangini didn't adjust this year at all, both on offense and defense... that is where we failed..
