Wiretap: Cavs interested in Gerald Wallace?

Post#1 » by Mr2400 » Tue Dec 30, 2008 3:40 am

Wiretap says the cavs could have interest in G force. reportedly, the cavs would give up snow, pavs, and tinsey for him to get a nice 6th man. I like the trade personally. My only concern would be that the bench would lose pavs' defense, leaving it with only varejao for defense off the bench. However, if that deal is on the table i think you've gotta do it from the cavaliers' standpoint. thoughts?

i assumed the deal would have to include wally as well. the bobcats know they can't win this year. they already traded richardson, and are probably going to try and develop augustin and clear some cap space this year. I could see them trading wallace to the cavs in the deal above, but i bet they'd prefer to get some more cap relief than snow. however, wally makes considerably more than does wallace so the cats would have to add more. rather than do that, i think they might prefer to get someone who can actually contribute along with cap relief (pavs can contribute, snow works as cap relief).

snow dosent matter neither does kinsey. so basically getting rid of pavs and getting gerald wallace would be awasome. pavs is my least fav cav and i think wallace would fit in perfectly and be a rejuvinated played konwing that he is on a championship contender. im down for this move.

I would like to get Okafor in this deal if some how possible. Include Wally, Hickson and maybe a 1st. Word around the league is that the Bobcats have high hopes in acquiring Curry and Lee from the Knicks for Bell and Diaw towards the deadline. Would love to have Okafor in our lineup. I am probably dreaming too much.

The deal proposed in the article was something the writer came up with. Thats why it says "a deal involving Eric Snow, Sasha Pavlovic, and Tarence Kinsey might be able to get the job done". I don't think the Bobcats would do that but who knows.

As for us having interest, i do believe thats probably true. We could use a big perimeter defender and Michael Reghi has repeatedly said that the Cavs have interest in Wallace and he believes he will end up here.

I would trade even include Wally if I figured there was a good chance he would accept a buy-out and come right back. (we still could use Wally's shooting...even if he has been struggling as of late)

Wallace would be a VERY nice addition coming off the bench. His contract is also reasonable and at 26 he is young enough to be worth all of the 5 years remaining on the contract.

I would do this in a flash. We get a 6-7 forward who can provide some more offense when Lebron is off the floor and can play with Mo Delonte Lebron and Andy when we go small. He can rebound pretty well too, which we have been struggling with as of late. They have been playing lackluster and some new blood may give the Cavs a jumpstart again.

I wonder if Charlotte is looking to move G-Force now that they have Diaw? But I wouldn't mind doing this trade especially if it doesn't include Wally.. If we can find a way to get Joe Smith back, then man I'd be more than satisfied with this team.

This trade is a no-brainer for the Cavs, which is why it probably isn't going to happen.

The Rumor about Diaw & Bell for Curry & Lee is just that... a RUMOR. It isn't even possible for that trade to happen. A player acquired by trade cannot be traded in conjunction with another player. They can be traded by themself though.

As for the deal that Bob Finnan proposed, there is no way that trade would EVER happen.

There has been rumors surrounding Wallace and the Cavs... but it includes a third team. Some rumors have the third team as Portland, while others have it as the Clippers. In all the rumors, the Cavaliers act as a middle-man, and they get Wallace in the exchange. Some of the rumors have the Cavaliers giving up 1 draft pick...some have 2 draft picks. Some have included Hickson as-well.

The other rumor that has been just as strong as the Wallace rumor , has Antawn Jamison coming to the Cavaliers.

My guess is, if we get Wallace... We will have to send expirings and a pick or 2 to the Clippers... the Clippers would send Kaman to Charlotte. That seems to make the most sense for the teams involved. If a deal went down with Portland... I have no idea what would be wanted... I'd guess Outlaw and Sergio would be a starting place... but there would have to be more to make things work financially.

This would be a great trade for the Cavs, but can someone explain to me why the Bobcats are shopping G. Wallace around? I mean... he's usually their scoring leader night in and night out.

I would almost rather have Kaman in that situation. Our bigs are getting old and Kaman is a legit 7-footer that is only 26 years old and will average about 14 and 10.

The only way we make a trade is if no key guys are involved. That means Andy and Hickson are out of the questions unless someone offers us an unbelievable deal. Like for Joe Johnson or someone like that, which aint gonna happen.

Gerald Wallace has been my number 1 pick for this team for a while, he would provide us with exactly what we need.

And I aint heard nothin on WKNR about Portland being involved in any talks with us. And noone I know has heard of that either. But Michael Reghi seems convinced Gerald Wallace could really end up here. And to be honest I actually believe him.

I personally think the only way we get him though is in a 3 way, where Charlote gets the center they want. Which would probably mean with NYC for Curry.

But Wallace is one concussion away from ending his career. Do we really want that?

The clippers already said they aren't trading any bigs. Even if they were, why would they trade their best young big instead of camby?

rumor was Felton and Wallace were being moved which made since since they equal Wally's contract. They were likely going to resign Felton next year because Brown doesnt like him. We would get Wallace and Frye since he is getting nowhere near the minutes he got last year and he is an expiring, plus his shot stretches the defense(maybe Z can show him a thing or two). Cats got Sergio, Wally and possibly a more. I think it was held because they want a pick as well or possibly Outlaw. I think Ferry is trying to low ball an offer so he can keep the 1st for another trade.
