It looks like he's going to get traded..so Cle can;t get him..but I don't think you guys have the assets to get him.

Toronto, Miami, and Orlando have the best assets available and are interested in him. If he goes to Toronto...there's still a chance he'll get bought out down the line if they continue to suck... but if he goes to a florida team he wont get bought out.

If he gets bought out, (trying to be objective), I think he would sign back with us. We have triple the money available via MLE to offer him, and while him and Kg are tight..Mo Williams is Joe Smith's best friend in the NBA(at least from what i've heard)

But, I doubt either of us lands Joe.

If Smith is bought out, it will definitely be a toss-up between the C's and Cavs, and I have no idea who would land him.

But if the C's can find a legit wing to take over Posey's role from last year, though, and one or both of Walker/Giddens have progressed enough to fill the emerency wing spot Tony Allen filled in the 2008 playoffs, I think the C's are easily the favorites to trade for Smith.

Tony Allen almost signed with OKC before returning to Boston this summer, and he would fill the biggest hole on the Thunder roster (SG) on a very reasonable 2-year deal, while reminding local fans of his glory days at OK State. The trade becomes TA and Scal for Joe Smith (with the C's can sending cash to cover the 2nd year of Scal's contract).

I like Joe Smith and off the street why not but he isn't a good defender and he doesn't shoot 3's. I don't really think that this team can piss away Tony's defense and Scal's perimeter shooting for a guy who is going to either cut into Powe's mins or make KG play center. Frankly Scal hasn't been pissing me off.

Either way because the available role is so small at this point I think tat his time they might be better off at least finding out what Walker, Pruitt, and O'Bryant can do before making a roster move.

Like I said, Mutombo will resign with the Rockets by 12/30. He was just re signed today.

There aren't many bigs available now. Doc is talking about playing KG less minutes because KG is can't hang like he used to, it happens when must NBA players get to that age. That's why I mentioned that the window has closed. I don't feel comfortable playing POwe or Davis more minutes.

Getting Joe Smith would help us out a lot because he can step in and play about 20-25 minutes a night. Too bad Leon hasn't improved his game. He needs a jumper like Paul Milsap to be a better player. I don't know if the Thunder will by him out, though.

No way OKC takes Scalabrine from you guys. To get Joe you guys would have to send Tony Allen, a Prospect, and maybe even a pick/cash.

Return to Boston Celtics
