Here is a quick comparison. Numbers are through Age 23 seasons.

Player A:
1328 MP .524 TS% 9.9 OReb% 21.0 DReb% 4.4 Blk%

Player B:
1771 MP .520 TS% 7.6 OReb% 21.9 DReb% 3.6 Blk%

Obviously, one player is Bob Swift. Do you know who the other player is?

I have no idea, just for $hits and giggles I'll say Shaq.

No, it's Pat Ewing. I am not saying Swift will be Ewing. I am just showing that a future (at that time) three-time All-Defensive team player performed at a similar level on the defensive end of the floor as Swift has. I only put the TS% in there to give a hint to the player was.

One of the easiest ways to stockpile talent, imo, is to exploit the good team/bad team inequity. Players in the rotation of good teams are often overrated. If you take a role player off a team with no star or an undeveloped star player(s), they can often be used just as easily on good teams.

A prime example of this is Roger Mason, Jr in San Antonio. He couldn't get off the bench in CHI, TOR and WAS in his first few years in the league. Last year he finally saw consistent playing time with WAS but was still just a ~20 MPG player because better options were apparently in front of him.

Now he has played the 2nd most minutes of any Spur (after Duncan) and has prospered. Granted, he is playing with true star players but he is playing on a very good team, in a very tough division. Of course it is all about the right fit. Mason Jr was a good fit. Kudos to the Spurs. FWIW, I think Swift is the right fit for our bench. It has nothing do with prior rumors of Ainge interest and everything to do with what I believe to be a correct fit.

The problem w/ Swift is he can't stay on the court. OKC was starting him at one point this season (for like a 5 or 6 game stretch) and he was putting up decent numbers, but then he got injured again.

I wouldn't mind getting him to be a defensive big off the bench, but the guy can't stay on the court to save his life.

You're right Nasbah

He only played in 71 games in his 3 previous seasons. How does a guy whose 23 not play in more games. He's like Mister Glass on that movie unbreakable. He's the used car that looks brand new, but falls apart once you drive off the lot.

Why does the conversation always turn to Robert Swift? Is it because he is white and we don't have enough white players?

The guy isn't that good and he can't stay healthy. He hasn't done **** in his entire NBA career. Can we just forget about him?

if christina and bob swift somehow came into physical contact, would they annihilate into pure energy?

OKC just cleared some room at Center:

"The Oklahoma City have waived center Steven Hill. Hill appeared in one game for the Thunder scoring two points and grabbing three rebounds in two minutes."

Now your dissing the immortal Alton Lister?!?! Who's next on your list, cfan, Ewe Blab?!?!?

For the record, I'm all for trading for Bob Swift and Christina Hendricks.

Now, about Lister. Here's one of his best moments as an NBA player. I kid you not:

Didn't they draft Devon Hardin?

What happened to him.

He was one of a handful of players that had some good upside and could be had with the 30th.
Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...

I'm gonna second (third?) those that say stick with Paddy. Not only is his name perfect for a Celtic, but I think he has a great upside and can contribute a lot sooner than some might think.

Return to Boston Celtics
