Lefevour reminds me so much of Vince Young, for better and for worse in terms of NFL potential. He's not quite as big, but he does so many of the same things, same base offense for the most part. And he's going back to CMU next year. I'd put him as a 4th-5th rounder this year if he came out; the league in general is pretty down on spread QBs and running QBs right now.

I like Davis more every time I watch him. He's got some Jay Cutler in him--strong arm, fearless arm, pretty mobile, throws on the run with accuracy and velocity. He needs to get better at feeling the pressure and his delivery can be a little deliberate at times. He also tends to make his receivers work to make catches, a la McNabb or Trent Green--the ball isn't always right on the mark or perfectly in stride. He was fantastic last night in tough conditions at making plays when plays needed to be made, and he's consistently done that his whole career. He's a legit 2nd round pick this year and he's got the potential to be the most successful QB in this draft class.

not that this is any news to anybody, but yesterday i talked with mike adams and from players to staff, everybody is 100 percent sure that Beanie is going pro after this season.

speaking of mike adams, i would be surprised if this kid does not become a first round pick in couple seasons. he is around 300 pounds and looks like he has zero fat in his body.

On that vein, some guys and whether they are coming out or staying...

Percy Harvin and Brandon Spikes of Florida are both as good as gone. Harvin is already booked at the sports training facility in Arizona to prep for the Combine and draft.

Myron Rolle, Florida State--someone very close to him told me this week that Myron won't be back at FSU next year, but he's unlikely to be in the NFL either. He's a great candidate for a Rhodes Scholarship and would choose that over the NFL. The only way he's back at FSU is if Bowden returns, he doesn't feel he's a 1st day pick (he's marginal at this point), and that another year would help boost his stock (iffy but plausible as this is a real deep safety class)

Andre Smith, Alabama--will declare, is already screening agents. Terrance Cody is doing the same but nobody I've talked to knows his intentions. Keep in mind his academic eligibility coudl make the decision for him.
Darius Heyward-Bey, Maryland--will declare, has not enrolled for classes next semester
George Selvie, South Forida--a lock to leave
Vontae Davis, Illinois--from a teammate, "He's been gone since October"
Taylor Mays, USC--has gone from certain to leave to 50/50
Geno Atkins, Georgia--headed back to school. Teammates Knowshon Moreno and Matt Stafford are "very safe bets" to declare. Everyone expects Massaquoi to leave too.
Jeremy Maclin and Michael Crabtree are both pretty safe bets to come out, though Maclin does reportedly really like school and has Heisman visions

and the Oklahoma guys, per a recent Sooner alum now in the NFL:
Sam Bradford--expect him back in school
Auston English--will declare
Jermaine Gresham--already spending his first NFL check
Demarcus Granger--will declare
Trent Williams--50/50, wants to see how high he projects
Clayton Kennan--likely to declare for some reason

damnit, it'd be just dandy if bradford would leave, he leaves and mccoy leaves (doubtful) ok. state would be favored next year for the conference.

btw icness what do you think about dez bryant and kendalls hunter stock when it comes to the draft? i realize they're both not eligible until next year but i imagine bryant will be one of the 1st wr's next year and am curious if hunter has a future in the nfl. ive also heard some interesting stories on how big a problem dez is that are pretty funny

Ok St. wouldn't be the favorite in the Big12, Texas would if Bradford, and McCoy leaves.

Rolle will accept his Rhodes Scholarship and will forego the NFL draft for now...at least, that's the last I can recall. That might change in between now and March, of course.

You asked about Patrick Chung, and I can answer: He's a man-coverage safety playing on a college team that uses mostly zone packages. He's a fierce hitter and does well in run support. Runs about 5-10, 200, and is cut; time speed isn't great but he is quick on the field. He's a fairly physical player who's sometimes asked to shadow tight ends and he's more often successful than not. If you're looking for intangibles, they're pretty good--he's been starting since he was a 17-year-old freshman and is the unquestioned leader of the defense.

Things that will hamper his draft stock are his height (5-10), timed speed (supposedly around 4.55, but we'll see at the combine), team performance (bottom third in the nation in passing defense) and position (FS only). He's at least adequate in both coverage and run support, and is very likely to be drafted. Look for him around the 3rd-5th rounds.

Thanks for that PNF...
Those two players intrigue me as the Eagles need to find a replacement for Dawkins...quite keen on one of them to join the eagles...

Mock 3.0 is up.

Based on who is declaring, my early mock would go like this:

1. Lions - Stafford
2. Rams - Smith
3. Chiefs - Bradford
4. Seahawks - Crabtree
5. Browns - Beanie Wells?
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Keep the name Louie Delmas in mind. Every time I was at WMU this year, the Eagles were watching this guy. Hard. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they use the CAR pick on him.

Browns would without a doubt take Aaaron Curry.

After him I'd have Everette Brown and Gerald McCoy on my list.
