Would you guys consider trading T-mac?

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Tue Dec 30, 2008 4:52 pm

If so, what would you want in return? Would you trade him for someone like Vince Carter, Michael Redd or even a combo of Hinrich and Gordon to the Bulls?

Let's see .....McGrady > Redd, McGrady has more value to this team over Ben and Kirk; and Vince Carter is a no thanks as well.

I'd only want Joe Johnson, he'd be as much value to this team as McGrady, plus he'd provide more to the table in terms of efficient scoring. But to bad the Hawks aren't that stupid----or well they might be stupid, but Morey isn't that smart :D

ATL would laugh at asking JJ for T-Mac though. T-Mac's trade value is at a low atm (how many times have we heard that?).

I'd do it for VC + Boone. (yeah, sadly. that's a trade I wouldn't even consider 2 years ago)
Redd has declined this season. When he can't shoot what is he good for? So I'd be inclined to say no on this one.
Hinrich has no future with Houston. But he still has some value to other teams. It might be a good idea to find another team to take on his contract while sending Houston some useful players.

What about T-mac for Gordon and Deng or T-mac for Arenas?

Arenas? that guy is possibly more injury prone than McGrady. ( is that even possible?). Personally I wouldn't do any of the trades mentioned in this thread.

And has an expiring contract

I not only think the Rockets have considered it...I think they are actively pursuing it.

mcgrady is not the player he was, but... arenas, deng, hinrich, no way...
plus we are having some problems but we don't want to rebuild, it's way too early.

Plus you have to keep in mind, the NBA teams would probably have no interest in aquiring T-Mac. So we are stuck with him till 2010.

IMO we are not going to get anything close to 65% value in return. We are better keeping him instead (at least his contract is expiring soon).

Joe Johnson IMO is the best and most legit fit, but the Hawks would never look at that.

there was a time when i wouldnt have even traded t-mac for kobe. but now, i would trade t-mac for any of the following sg/sf's in the league....

joe johnson
ray allen
paul pierce
lebron
rip hamilton
melo
stephen jackson
danny granger
kobe
wade
michael redd
andre iguodola
brandon roy
rudy gay
oj mayo
ginobili
kevin durant
kevin martin
caron butler

thats sad that t-mac heartlessness has made me feel this way and give some of these players more value than him. i was his biggest fan. but i will no longer accept giving 40% effort

No way would NJ do that,we wouldn't even trade Carter for T-mac straight up.Carter is better and much healthier right now even though he is two years older. If Rod Thorne was to lose his marbles and do that trade he would only be doing so clear up room in '10 but that wouldn't make much sense since NJ will have plenty of cap space by then.

I would be shocked if T-mac was traded for a star, the best you can hope for is a trade for a young player with potential and picks or a maggette type player.T-mac's value is extremely low right now.

Return to Houston Rockets
