(Opinion Thread) Do you think the recent backlash....

Post#1 » by Matt34520 » Wed Dec 31, 2008 9:48 pm

Do you think the recent backlash in response to the Celtics losses is reasonable?

Last week before the Laker game we were on top of the world. There was no talk about the big 3 being too old or slipping. At least I didn't hear any. We were on a 19 game winning streak, things were wonderful. Everyday was sunny and everybody was optimistic. lol

THEN BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
:o

They lost to L.A. and were done, its all over. Garnett is a shell of his former self, Pierce is over the hill at 31, funny that Kobe is only a year younger, but no one talks about his age. Ray Allen is nothing. And were basically screwed after this year. This is all after a bad road trip in December.

By the way, this post is more aimed at the realgm.com writer who wrote that article on the Celtics front page.

oh by the way, for the people who are going to say, what do you not want us to be critical of this team?

No I'm not saying that, we do have problems, and we do need to get better. But I love how the author to that article, picked such a convenient time to write it. I bet he wouldn't have written that article last week. To me, its the classic example of overreacting.

There has been complaints against the celtics bench during the winning streak. Such as topics on adding PJ or Joe Smith.

True we shouldn't panic, all teams go through slumps. The Lakers went through one a couple of weeks ago.

I think the over reaction around here is ridiculous, we're in the midst of a pretty amazing season and I find it hard to believe more posters don't seem to appreciate what we are seeing. However, I guess this would be a pretty boring board if we all saw things the same way, so everyone just keep on being your crazy selves.

I think backlash is justified...as fans we are entitled to be passionate and opinionated about our team...wouldnt be real fans if we weren't. I would hope that any true Celtic fan is critical in the way they view their team...that they think about how the team meshes, could be better, why the look lose...

So yeah, justified, at times in my opinion mis-aimed...but is a right as a fan to be opinionated and get eithre down or up on your team as the mood takes u.

Question: Is the game about satisfying the fans? Or the owners? (How you satisfy owners would be an interesting topic....wins, profit, marketability...?)

GO C's!!!!!

We were just spoiled with a 19 game win streak. A lot of users here probably forgot what losing felt like. That's not to say there hasn't been some constructive criticism, specifically at the bench, which has been a known problem all year. We are definitely just going through a bit of a slump though. All three losses were pretty close, in all respect, and they could've gone our way with a shot here or a call there.
