Our 31-4 start in '04-05

Post#1 » by addicted2noise » Wed Dec 31, 2008 7:36 am

I just wanted to post this topic since I saw that Boston lost again tonight, making their current record 28-5. For awhile, I thought it was a sure thing that they would surpass the Suns' incredible start to the 2004-05 season where we went 31-4 before Nash went down with an injury.

I think it just goes to show how difficult it is to chase that illustrious 70-win mark. Also, it shows how dominant of a team we were back then. Everyone nowadays is all over Boston's bandwagon, but we had a better start than they did just a few years ago. Just think of what we could've done if we didn't have that 6-game losing streak after Nash got injured.

I know this is somewhat random post, but it was just on my mind when I saw how Portland held off the Celtics without Roy tonight. I'm also really nostalgic now... man I miss that 04-05 team, haha. I still think that the squad we have now is capable of doing amazing things though. Despite all the question marks that have lingered throughout this season, I truly believe that as long as we peak in April, we'll be able to do some serious damage in the playoffs.

Anyway, I'll stop before I get too off topic. Happy New Year everyone!

What was really fun about that team is how the Suns won those 31 games. They were just CRUSHING people. Running them out of the gym. That was good times...

How I'd love to get DVDs of that year. I was taking a break from basketball because I found the league boring at the time, so I missed that entire year. The first Suns games I watched was against the Mavs in the playoffs.

Yah the league is much much more stronger now than those first three years the Suns had with Nash. I wonder if the Suns and their style of play had to do with revitalizing the league or was it the talent in the rookie classes of 02 - 06 that made the league what it is now.
