Eddie House on the West Coast Trip (4 games)
For the people that think getting Marbury should be a big mistake, here is something to think about. Eddie House isn't getting in done. Doc won't play Pruitt and Cassell hasn't played a minute so far because of a reason(his too old).
Here is a closer look at what Eddie House did in the 4 game trip.
Game 1: 14 minutes, 2 points, 1 reb, 1 assist on 1-5 shooting
Game 2: 22 minutes, 10 points, 3 reb, 0 assists on 3-10 shooting
Game 3: 20 minutes, 15 points, 2 rebs, 3 assists on 5-14 shooting
Game 4: 14 minutes, 3 points, 0 reb, 0 assists on 1-5 shooting.
House played 70 minutes on the trip and had only 4 assists. He only had 6 rebounds in those 70 minutes. He shot 29% from the field(10 for 34).
While I'm not just blaming House for the 1-3 record, I feel everyone needed to pick it up. House's poor play really hurt us overall. I think we need to upgrade the back up PG position or give Pruitt a chance.

House can only be effective if he plays with the first unit. When KG or Pierce get double teamed he can make wide open shots, with the second unit he just doesn`t get good looks and he can`t create his own shot.
I think it would be smart if Rondo was substituted early and Eddie came in to play with the starters. Then Rondo could lead the bench players in the second quarter...

Sheesh, Eddie's in a temporary slump.
He was on fire in pre-season,
started the year off in a slump,
but his season averages across the board are very close to his career averages.
Last year, he was slightly better than his career averages.
Now, after sticking up for Eddie,
I do think a "5th guard" to replace Pruitt in the active 12 is needed.
I didn't say the team has to dump Pruitt,
because one or two of O'Bryant, Giddens, Walker and Pruitt may turn out to be contributors
for the 2011 season.

Way overreacting. Eddie is hot and cold, but he helps us quite a bit.

With House I've learned that you have to be able to take the bad with the good. I would however like to see dog have a shorter leash if he doesn't have it early. I think Pruitt can play in this league and help this team.

Do you remember Eddie's last shot against the Blazers?

I've thought the same thing for quite some time. Eddie House can't create for himself or for others AT ALL. When you play him with the rest of the bench, his offense and our 2nd units offense is flat out abysmal. Play him with the starters where guys like Pierce, Ray and KG can create, draw attention and dish to him and he's a damn good fit and a very good floor spacer/shooter.thebirdman wrote:House can only be effective if he plays with the first unit. Then you can run the offense through Rondo and whatever Big 3 member stays in for the 2nd and just let the bench be role players.

I like the idea of subbing Eddie in the earliers out of any of the bench guys. The main problem, IMO, with the second unit is the table setting and playmaking. Let Rondo be the playmaker of the second unit.

Then the problem is we have to go to an inexperienced Pruitt, that Doc obviously still doesn't trust if House doesn't have his shot. He's earned enough respect in the league as a catch and jump shooter that he'll at least stretch the floor without hitting his shot.

Pruitt can defend better to. Pruitt ought to be taking Eddie's minutes at 1. Maybe at 2, too.
When you think about Eddie's points, he's mostly dropping shots in garbage time (Kings), period. With Eddie, too many trips are one and done. Tough to stay competitive that way.
The only other team with a player chucking them like Eddie is the Hawks with Josh Smith from 3. He's like 20% out there.

Re: Eddie House on the West Coast Trip (4 games)
I really like Eddie, he works very hard, he seems to be a good teammate, he tries very hard, and when his shooting is on, he's great to watch.
But unfortunately the offense doesn't run very well when he the point. Ray is almost wasted out there since he rarely gets the ball. Except of course when he is bringing it up instead of Eddie when there is a defensive PG on the floor. And when Paul is on with the subs, it's almost Paul on 5 until he turns it over. Paul isn't a Point Forward, it doesn't play to his skills.
I like Pruitt AND House on the floor at the same time, not one or the other. A few times in their limited time together, you can see the Pruitt/House relationship working like the Rondo/RA one, where the PG feeds the open shooter. I think this is the best way to utilize these guys - together, not one instead of the other. Unfortunately Doc isn't too comfortable with Pruitt yet, and who knows if a bigger role will develop this year.
Perhaps I should post this in one of the Starbury threads, but if bringing him to the team is what it takes to move Eddie out of the PG role and into the SG one, then I'm all for it. Which is a lot for me to say, because I pretty much despise Starbury.

Re: Eddie House on the West Coast Trip (4 games)
The complaints have been about the bench in general, but my complaints have mainly been about House and Davis. House has been in a shooting slump virtually all season and Davis can't hit his shots at all. If these two were hitting their shots much more frequently, the bench wouldn't be much of a problem. There are too many people who panic, but all it takes is one or two changes and the bench should be much better.

Re: Eddie House on the West Coast Trip (4 games)
You guys got to realize that when House's shot is not falling, it hurts the team because he is a PG that can't get to many open shots for his teammates. In 3 of the 4 teams, we failed to score 90 points.
Again it's not just Eddie's fault, but when Powe, Davis, and TA aren't doing much either, the situaion becomes more magnified. Eddie isn't helping much right now.
Let's keep our fingers crossed, it seems like we may have a chance of getting Marbury.

Re: Eddie House on the West Coast Trip (4 games)
Complaining about the lack of assists that Eddie get? Seriously? His main role is to shoot the ball whenever he gets it. Can't really rack up too many assists when you're running the 3-1 screen roll half the time you're in the game.
As for boards - well, Eddie's probably 5-10 at most. Other than Chris Paul and Rondo, I don't think we're going to find too many guys at Eddie's size to grab boards.

Yes, I'm complaining about his assist totals, seriously. He is our back up PG, and I expect more than 4 assists in 70 minutes. House is 5'11, we don't need him as a SG especially when our bench is already the shortest in the league with a 6'7 PF and 6'8 Center.
Like I've said before, House helps us when his shot is falling but hurts us when is it not going down. He doesn't bring much else to the table. We can use a back up PG that can create his own shot and more importanly create for his teammates. This wouldn't be that big of a need with the other guys House was playing with could creat their own shots, by they can't on a regular basis.

Re: Eddie House on the West Coast Trip (4 games)
Eddie is a hot and cold shooter. That's who he is. I don't think it's worth complaining about that. I'm sure you could find 4-game stretches where Eddie was absolutely on fire. That's how jumpshooters are.
I think getting Marbury would help (can't believe I'm saying that) not to *replace* Eddie, but to play *alongside* Eddie. Essentially Marbury is a more talented and veteran version of Gabe Pruitt. It's TA who stands to lose the most mins if we bring in Steph.

why do you think they call him "Lights Out" Eddie House?
Because when he's on he's on... When he's off you want to turn the lights off
