While I agree on YI's exclusion, I hope either Devin or Vince gets the nod for the other guard spot. Both are generally playing better than AI. Wade is a lock for the 1st guard.

It'll be a travesty as Charles Barkley says if Yi makes it in before KG or Lebron.

Heck, I don't even know how he has more votes than Bosh.
Voting should stick in North America.

OTOH, Devin Harris really deserves to be the starting PG for this year's ASG but he won't get it.

travesty? maybe he should encourage state-side fans to vote some more rather than biatching about it.

and oh, voting should stick in America? Stern wanna bamboozle his global ambition because of one dude who happens to have loads of fans?

ASG is a popularity contest, awards for skills come after the season.

The weak game against Yao with all of China watching might have hurt him.

I agree 100% with 6 Rings.. if Yi get more votes than KG at the end of the ASG voting..thats sad because the state side fan let him down.. don't be hatin and blame Yi for that ..most of Yi votes come from within the u.s. ..

fan base baby!

who cares? the ASG has been a popularity contest forever. I didn't see anyone complaining about it when players that didn't deserve it in PAST years (AI, vince) got voted in simply because of the fans they have. The only difference with Yi getting voted in this year is that his fan base is foreign, both literally and figuratively. I guess those foreign fans don't deserve to have a basketball idol or someone who turned them onto the wonderful sport of basketball and the NBA that they just love to watch. If you didn't complain those past times when undeserving players got the starting nod just because of their popularity then don't complain about Yi's popularity now. Likewise, we all know people who voted for their team's player or their fav player, or NOT voted for someone deserving because they're a rival, etc. If you didn't complain about those things then don't complain about Yi's fandom now. The principle of the whole thing is pretty clear, the ASG is a subjective popularity contest and it is meant by the NBA to be so.

Btw, keep voting to NA only? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard on this forum. Let's milk our cash cow overseas and take their money but let's take away their vote and chance for interaction, great idea!

FYI, I'm not going to vote for Yi because I rather see someone else play. But if millions of fans love and idolize Yi and they want to see him play and vote him in, so be it.

There is still a difference between Yi's case and that of Vince and AI before. The latter are superstars while Yi is not.

What exactly is a super star? I have a feeling it's not always about how well someone is playing or how good he is; sometimes it's the image and adoration given to the player by fans. If millions of fans in China want to see Yi, if he's their superstar, then why not? This is exactly what the NBA meant for the ASG to be. It's not All NBA awards, it's just a chance to give the fans what they want to see. You definitely have a point, but I just think in principle, if all stars have always been selected more so based on their fan support rather than their merits and production, then it's silly to get all worked up over this now.

Yeah we should just let all of North America to only vote except for Canada. Nobody cares about them anyway. They all live in igloos, and they all eat blubbers anyways.

Lets see how much votes will Bosh gets if we do that buddy

Whether KG deserves to be an All-Star or not is not the topic right now (he definitely does, being the best player on the best team in the league and if you haven't watched the NBA for the past 10 years, you probably don't know he plays with more heart than ANY NBA player that has ever played.)

All I gotta say is VOTING FOR YI TO START IN THE ALL STAR GAME IS DISRESPECTING THE GAME OF BASKETBALL! I'm not a Yi hater, but COME ON! Are you serious?? The Nets have two all stars on this team, Vince Carter and Devin Harris, Yi is NO WHERE near being an all star! the guy is averaging 9.7ppg, 6rpg, less than a block a game?? That's an all star?? I think not.

The whole Chinese voting thing is ridiculous. To prove that also, how are you going to START YAO MING in his ROOKIE year, over a very DOMINATING Shaquille O'Neal a few years back?? No question Yao is the best center in the West NOW, but come on his rookie year, no he was not an all star.

Give Yi some time maybe he CAN get to that level, but he is not there yet.

Same goes for voting Iverson in over Derrick Rose and Devin Harris, both of them deserve it more than AI.

Just because the guy leaves his heart on the floor night in and night out and led his team to an NBA title, he is "THUG TRASH"?? Go back to your cave....

WOW!

Kevin Garnett (Bos) 1,101,541
Yi Jianlian (NJ) 959,324
Chris Bosh (Tor) 601,204
Paul Pierce (Bos) 387,105
Hedo Turkoglu (Orl) 236,360
Shawn Marion (Mia) 230,119
Danny Granger (Ind) 155,484
Josh Smith (Atl) 131,281
Michael Beasley (Mia)

SERIOUSLY, all of those players on that list deserve the spot over Yi.

I agree Yi should be nowhere near the all-star game even though I love the guy.

I also agree that KG is not Thug Trash, however, he has become the most obnoxious player in basketball. I've read a handful of articles this year about how much is a dick he has been ever since he joined the Celtics and that it's only gotten worse since they won a title. I lost all respect for the guy during his last year in Minny going forward. There is a difference between being a hard nosed/emotional player and just being an ass. As much as I used to love him, he's totally forgotten where that line is.
